Loved the History of this Temple

If you are in the area go visit the Famen temple. Inspiring place and especially the old site is very beautiful. A place of peace and balance.

Big complex, get ready to do some walking. It's quite hot in July, even with hats and umbrella, it's still very hot. With our young kids we only visited the old pagoda complex (where they found the underground palace). You can take a tram ride for the big modern complex but we didn't do it cause our kids are already... More

So interesting to see the Old China and New, side by side at this famous Temple. The new temple is enormous and very grandiose while the smaller, old temple is the true treasure. It is here that a believed to be relic, a finger of Buddha, resides. It was hidden for years in a secret area below the temple, taken... More

Located a few hours from Xi'an this is an amazing place. The walk from the entrance to the main building takes you past numerous Buddha. It is a long walk but they have a tram. Inside the main building you can see a finger bone of Buddha, You cab also go into the old pagoda and museum.

If, you are visiting Xian for the Terracotta warriors then try to get time to spend a day at this temple. The pictures shows only the modern part of the site not the original pagoda and cellar hall. Best days to visit are at the weekend when the finger bone relic is on display otherwise all one will see are... More

Our group of 10 rented a minibus for Y1200 for a day trip to Famen Temple. Journey took about 2 hours. On reaching Famen Temple we were amazed by the size of this place. It's huge. Just from the gate to the main building is about 3.5km. We took a buggy and a guide for the tour here. Famen Si... More

I only visited this place as part of a tour to QianLing and I'm not religious but I found this place amazing. There's two areas a) the traditional temples and gardens where the the first temple was as well as the pagoda b) the new, modern, breathtaking temple which features in most pictures. I think you need at about 4... More
