Our cruise ship docked at Keelung Harbour in January 2024. It was a busy industrial area heavily protected by military. I liked the harbour even though it was not definitely a touristic spot.

Friends took us to the Keelung night market, which had some really good traditional Taiwanese food. After dinner, we decided to walk to the harbor. As we got closer we can smell a stench coming from the harbor. Friends informed us the waste water and sewage from surrounding area all run off into that harbor, and water is highly polluted. Sad because the harbor was nice, but the smell is quite overwhelming.

My friend and I decided to take a bus from our Keelung hotel to walk around and take photos of the Zhengbin Fishing Port Color House (there are about 16 colourful rainbow houses along the port).
What we enjoyed most is our visit to the restaurant called the 525 restuarant. Address is No. 525號, Zhongzheng Rd, Zhongzheng District, Keelung City, Taiwan 202
The food there was fresh and yummy. We met the hospitable lady boss who then kindly drove us to the Peace Island (和平島 ). Lovely to see the eroded rocks and animal shaped stones. Highly recommend to drop in to the cafe on the top floor of the Tourist service centre for their Affogato and the cake slices.
We had a great time , and the hospitality of the lady owner of 525 restaurant was an icing on the cake.

The new cruise ship terminal welcome international travelers to Taiwan. Keelung is a deep-water port, apart from cruise ships, it is the main container port for northern Taiwan. It is also well-known as a fishing port, if you get up really early you can see the day's catch being sorted. If you want to go to Taipei, it's best to take the train unless you speak Mandarin or Hokkien.

Keelung Harbour is the most important harbour for northern Taiwan. It was a major port during the Japanese colonial period, due to its proximity to Japan. Although the harbour appears to be small, it is deep and can accommodate large ships such as cruise ships. Keelung Harbour is fun to visit, it's a short train trip from Taipei.

Keelung Harbour appears to be relatively small, but is is a deep water port that can easily accommodate large ships; Keelung Harbour is a popular port-of-call for international cruise ships. The port has been a point of entry for foreign intruders, and was for many years the main port for Taipei. It's known as "Rainy Port," it's famous for its drizzle. Keelung is 14 miles from Taipei as the crow flies; the train takes around 45 minutes.

Keelung has a long history as a port serving northern Taiwan, dating from the Japanese colonial era (1895-1945). These days it's best known as a cruise ship harbor. Although security is strict, once you are on the street, no-one will bother you. Feel free to look around, the market is interesting. If you want to visit Taipei, trains are frequent and tickets are inexpensive.

Easy to walk around, and lots to see. Also lots to do if you’re getting toured out and want to be on your own.

Keelung is the Harbour town for the capital of Tawan, Teipei. This is quite a deep water Harbour , stretching quite a way inland from its sea entrance. Not a place of beauty, and only just coming to terms with its use by Cruise Ships. There is not even a proper port building, but a couple of large old warehouses , used by the Japanese Invaders during the war and in the process of being refurbished and upgraded. The town itself is a bustling, working town, with little of interest, other than Zhongszhheng Park and used as a stop off for tours and visits to the capital. There is a station nearby, from where you can catch regular trains to Teipei, quite cheaply, and also a decent market a short walk away, which turns into a lively Night Market after dark, though we weren't there long enough to see. Some wi-fi at the Port entrance, or Starbucks nearby. People friendly, but not many locals speak English.

They don't get loads of cruise ships here. We were visiting in October. You really need to take a tour. We had a fantastic one up the coast.
Traffic is pretty busy in this bustling town.
Not the plushest of ports but the people are very friendly and Taiwan is very cheap.
Don't take anything other than bottled water off with you. Sniffer dogs and x rays and very strict. Were ok with sweets though. Lucky for me as I had the cruise cold and needed them. Enjoy Taiwan!
