I spent the whole day cycling around sun moon lake. It was great weather and I enjoyed it a lot. Initially the path was easy and smooth. However, when I decided to follow the path to Touche Dam instead of round the lake path, the...More

It is written up as a ride around the lake. It is not.. path ends. You have to ride on the road, which is OK. Some of the cycle path is very steep. It is also badly signed for an English reader. If you have...More

Don't bother going there on weekends, such as Sundays as it is so busy that everyone is pushing their bikes or rented bicycles, rather than cycling on the bikeways. In this way, it then loses the original purpose of the bikeway.

Taiwan's largest lake, Sun Moon Lake is inspired by the beauty of the area. The east side of the lake is round, like the Sun, while the west side is long and narrow, like a Crescent Moon. Renting a bicycle is another mode of transport...More

I rode on this bike early in the morning. Great ride with no traffic. The bike way does not go all round the lake and because of this, It has to cater for bike traffic coming both ways (+ pedestrians). I was there during the...More

The bikeway around Sun Moon Lake allows easy access for anyone that can ride a bike. So cheap and so accessible, it's a must do.

It is a world-famous bikeway. You can ride your bike slowly to enjoy the beautiful lake view. Also if you want, you can take the challenge to go around the whole Sun Moon Lake, which is 30 kilometer long.

This is very close to the wharf and bus stop. There are many bike rental places nearby. There are many scenic spots to stop and take a photo

Some sections of the tracks can be quite crowded, so, you are required to dismount and walk the bike instead.

Myself and two friends rented a car and drove from Taichung to Sun Moon Lake early on a Sunday morning. The car rental for the day just cost about TWD2,000. We left at 5:30am...wow!..too early. However by 7:30am we were out on the bikeway with...More
