    Lively night market!
Can’t miss this lively night market! I would recommend coming from 630 to 7pm onwards to see the market in full swing. Ximending sells your typical street food carts, along with many restaurants and small shops selling souvenirs. I prefer this to Raohe market.

    Worth a visit at night
Very popular area best visited from around 6pm. I assumed some streets become pedestrian only. Hundreds of shops around the area to suit all budgets. Everything is modern looking with all the neon lights to go with it. The night I visited it was very busy but I suspect it's busy every night. Certainly worth grabbing a bite to eat and having a walk around.

    What you expect! Asia nights.
This is Asia.  You know the drill, bright lights, shops, food, entertainment, neon billboards and loads of people.  Great atmosphere with buskers playing music and all sorts of things going on. There are High Street names like H&M to traditional shops, food stalls and more. So much going on. A mix of everything!

Wanhua is the Kingdom of Youth
Ximending is the Kingdom of Youth. The area is known as "West Gate." It's a favorite area for young people to hang out, especially students. There are lots of cheap eateries, and transport on the MRT is convenient. Ximending adjoins the Wanhua district, one of the oldest areas of Taipei. You can wander around for hours, there's lots to see and do.

    Shopping and Eating Bonanza
Great place to stroll and shop. Taiwanese souvenirs and global fashion brands beckon. Lots of things to do. Needed a half day itinerary at least. Taiwanese classics made popular , such as the milk tea , fried chicken and hand pulled noodles are not to be missed . Only drawback was that it was a struggle to finding public restrooms.

Get to everywhere from here, shop and eat till you drop!
The best place to base in when visiting Taipei. There's lots to see and do, not forgetting the never ending supply of delicious food. So much shopping to do and so many souvenir shops around as well. It's always very happening at the Ximen MRT Station area. Very convenient to get to everywhere via MRT or bus.

    Food and shopping
You can find the famous rainbow road. It's a busy area filled with a variety of food stalls and shops that sell items from clothing, souvenirs etc. Buskers and street performers are around the area too.

    Shopping area for young people
Ximending is a must see in Taipei. There are numerous stores, restaurants and cafe. General price is reasonable to slightly higher as it is also a tourist attraction. There are so many things to see, eat and indulge.

    Visited it several times!
My hotel being located in Ximending, I visited it several times when I was in Taipei. It has shops, restaurants, stores selling souvenirs made in Taiwan, etc. Located near it is the Ximending Metro Station ( Green Line). In the evening, they have the Night Market for cheap local cuisines here. More crowd here in the evening than during the day.

    Walking and “shopping”
Xinyi has the luxury brands and Ximending has the non luxury ones. You see Nike, Uniqlo etc. here, many local brands, and not-great restaurants. In fact, the food options here are very limited and bad 5/10

This place is very crowded and full of millennials. Not advisable for family or elder people. Better to go with friends or love one. Long line for food and milk teas. Only few stores have dining in most are take away. Stores are on new year sale I was able to buy good finds within the area. Not sure if they are always on sale or its because new year. Most stores in Taipei were on new year sale even on other malls.

Ximending at night is well-lit with rows and rows of shops selling local delicacies, souvenir items, branded clothes and shoes, street food, different bubble milk teas among others. There are also pubs and theaters here. Street entertainers regularly perform and attract people to see them. Nice way to spend the night when in Taipei.

Today, I would like to recommend the place where is very popular with Taipei youth and tourists — Xingmending. There are four reasons. The first of all is plenty of restaurants. People can eat not only traditional Taiwanese food but also innovative Taiwanese food. The next is Xingmending is a good place to go shopping. It’s full of stores and shops. People can buy fashionable clothes and souvenirs there. Besides of delicious food and shopping paradise, People can watch street performances and exhibitions. The final reason is the Red House, the western-style building. The Red House is a historical building which is built in 1908. People can cultural and creative products there. Above are the reasons why I recommend Xingmending.

International adapters for charging handphone. Bring your own chilli sauce or chilli padi as you can hardly find one even in fast food restaurant. Book hotel that provides breakfast as the only breakfast you could find in Ximending is soy milk, chinese roti prata and mantou - no toast and coffee. Shops open late.

Ximending is a MUST SEE for anyone visiting Taipei. The epicenter of culture, shopping, evening market food and street shows. Ximending is a great place to dive into the feeling of what Taiwan is all about. Energetic, vibrant and ready for you to jump in and experience it all.

If you want to shop, there are lots of places to get what you want. Clothes, bags, souvenirs and various other goods. Some delicious food here from street food to nice indoor restaurants. This is a great place for solo travelers, group travelers and families alike.

It is a very busy location especially on the weekends so be prepared for crowds. There are usually street performers either dancing or perfomring some other street type performance.

Definitely check this place out on your trip to Taipei, Taiwan!

This was where we started and ended our day tour to Yehliu, Jiufen and Shifen. After our day trip, we returned here at night and had time to walk around Ximending. This is a trendy place, popular with the younger set and is more happening at night, full of people and life. There are many cafes, shops, colorful lights around. Being seniors, we just did window shopping and checked out the area. Too fast pace for us.

Ximending is a fun, trendy, entertainment, food, drink, shopping district in Taipei. It is easy to get to as it is at Ximen metro stop.

Souvenir shops abound, bubble tea shops are everywhere (Taiwan invented bubble tea), coffee (I counted 3 Starbucks) & tea, juice, drink shops, clothing, footwear, toy stores, toy vending machines, souvenir food shops, movie theatres, little restaurants, bigger restaurants on second or third levels were all there. There are very few foreign businesses but Nike, H&M, New Balance were there and many grouped next to each other.

There was a 300 year old temple in the midst of all this plus an octagonal red brick building from 1908 built by a Japanese architect, called The Red House. It is a cultural building housing a coffee shop, creative handicrafts and gifts in an extended building. There is a theatre on upper levels for performances such as an upcoming violin performance.

Although mostly pedestrian, taxis, cars, scooters, motorcycles did enter down these streets so you have to be careful not getting hit by them.

Ximending (:West Gate in English) is the Kingdom of Youth. It is full of juice bars and small restaurants, and small shops selling cheap clothing. It comes alive at night, when young people come out to play. There's nothing preventing older people from visiting Ximending, but it's made for young people.

Ximending is the Kingdom of the Kids. It's a fun place to meet for teenagers. There are lots of pop-up shops and good places to eat. Ximending starts warming up in the afternoon. Ximending is easily accessible by the Taipei MRT. The Ximemding MRT Station is on the MRT Blue line, it's always busy, day and night.

Ximen has a lot of shopping stores, if you are a person love shopping, you will love it. In there, you can find some delicious food including the latest dessert and traditional taiwaness food. Also, you can buy some souvenir here. The ximen red hous also have some stores, the store there is about traditional and artical things. You can find some historical atmosphere in the ximen red house. Sometimes, you can find some street perfomers in Ximen. I have seen some performaces playing bells, and many people stay around them. It's a lively place.
