The best place for shakya fruit
Dec 2019
The night market itself is no different from any night markets that you can find in Taiwan. It's small but you'll find a lot of fruits stalls selling local fruits. One of the best local fruit that you must try is "shakya". There are two types, one is the original and the other is by graft to a pineapple plant. The original is about US$ 1.0~1.5 each and the later is about $3.0~3.5, really cheap and tasty! Try both I suggest though I like the original more.

You can find any kind of food here
Nov 2018
I am a local people. It’s the best place to find food in Pingtung City.
屏東本地人最喜歡覓食的地方,推薦新園火鍋,雞肉絲飯,豬頭快餐滷排骨飯,關東煮老店,路口的土托魚羹。比起觀光夜市,這裡有更多的古早味!

The street is full of food. The taste of dishes (even a popular Taiwanese dishes) in pingtung are slightly different from other cities. Worth trying.

Much like other markets

Loads of seafood and other local dishes from the Taiwanese cuisine. I'd say this is much like any other markets that you'll find in this country (which is to be expected).

Fun place with lots of good foods

IMO, it is far better than the night market we visited in Taipei, as people can actually move around, buy stuff and eat. (That night market in Taipei was extremely crowded and claustrophobic. There was no way to get anywhere, so we just left.)

We tried different types of foods and all were very tasty, apart from the ice cream, which tasted odd.

My son played some games on the game stalls, such as balloon shooting, and he had great fun.

There are no litter bins anywhere on the street, so you need to take your rubbish with you until reaching a store such as 7-Eleven, where you are likely to find a bin. Some traders on the night market are happy to take the rubbish off you though, if you buy food from them and ask nicely.

There was a taxi rank at the end of the night market, but our driver didn’t use the meter. That was the one and only time we used taxi in Kenting at night, so I am not sure if it was common.

All in all a great night out.

Careful of traffic

Kenting night market really different from those we visited in Taipei. Two rows of hawkers at the side of the main road. Beware of vehicles and crowds.

Use your eyes and feeling to judge. Some hawkers kinda unhygienic. We went there twice. As there were 7 of us (one elderly, one young and pregnant mother), rather impossible to eat at the hawker's stall. Lots of deep fried food, and BBQ food.

First visit, we had pizzas and pasta at the restaurant. Then, strolled slowly to find local snacks to munch. I patronized this shop selling tees, “棋盘脚”. The tees are uniquely special as you wouldn't find the same design elsewhere.

I bought slippers from one of the hawker because we were able to mix and match using kinda carousel. Interesting!

Second visit, we bought some food hawkers and 7-11, and had it in the Inn. It was raining and windy. Ironically, the 7-11 food taste better, and the coffee very nice.

Night Market at its Height

Kenting night market is one of the best nightmarkets... loads of people though!! But this is pretty much the BEST place to see and be seen!!
There's so much food, I honestly don't know where to start... I always over-eat when I go, because well... you can't help yourself.
There's loads of great tourist trinkets too, I usually save myself for Kenting to get great random souvenirs for friends and family overseas from here.

Huge and a lot of choices !
For people who loves Seafood you Will be happy and not for expensive price !

In addition, there is some which offer cooked Plate like Pasta or Risotto, or Potato. So not only snack.

It's a really big Nightmarket, the only bad points is that it's on each side of a big street so you Will need to be Careful of it.

But you can spend a lot of time in it !

Great night market - lots of variety.
We went to this night market every night we were in Kenting.

They had the most variety of any market we'd been to in Taiwan. They have cocktail stands, food stands, game stands, caricature stands, tea stands and so much more.

The market is well spread out and even though it's very popular and busy it's not as crowded and claustrophobic as the markets in the big city.

I'd recommend the mojito bar stall near the start of the market, it's only a NT$100 for a very generous and well made then mojito. The bar man also speaks great English. It's just called 'Mojito'.

Next I'd suggest a Japanese style deep fried squid place. It's hard to describe what the food is without a name, but it's damn delicious. They have a stall outside a small restaurant and offer 5 different marinades to the squid. It's cheap and delicious, sorry I can't remember the name but look out for the red face mask with the long nose. It's just before the havaians shop.

Near a 7/11 and a really noisy bar is a fantastic soup dumpling place. The owner is pretty vocal so I'd doubt you'd miss him.

Another highlight was a beef noodle restaurant that had a stall in front of a long narrowish restaurant. The soup was delicious and the noddles were great too.
It's on the left side of the road as you are walking down the market.

Be sure to check it out!

Great place for evening meal or just to spend some time walking, watching, eating. One og the most colorful night markets we have seen on Taiwan!
