    Night market experience for tourists
This is Kaohsiung's most well-known night market. Its central location makes it a popular tourist attraction. Although the heyday of Liouhe is long over, it is still a lively place and a convenient option for visitors to experience the vibe. Beware that things are not cheap here.

Worth it for the street food, but not much else
Most night markets don;'t match the hype, and Liuhe is no exception. The street food is the real draw. Most of what else is offered is cheap stuff - fake tattoos, platic trinkets, and so on. It's an interesting place to be for a bit, but it's not a must-do in Kaohsiung.

    Food stalls with tourist price
Located just 5 minutes walk from Formosan Boulevard MRT station. About 2 blocks of food stalls selling mostly local Taiwanese delicacies. It's a place where you can try alot of local food at one spot. Prices on some stalls are quite pricey. The market starts around 5pm. Come before dark if you don't like crowded places.

    Nice Street Food
This is a street food night market, pretty much in the centre of Kaohsiung. There's a speciality vegetarian stall that sells several dishes, including ones with mock meat. Otherwise vegetarian options include sweet potatoes, glutinous rice. Some of the fried rice or noodle stalls will also do a vegetarian item if you ask. Overall, I enjoyed eating here a few times.

This Night Market is incredible! Definitely worth the walk through if you're in the area. There's all sorts of seafood, meat, dumplings, noodles, sweets, clothes shops and much more I can't think about right now. Just go check it out! My advice is to try a little bit of food from each food cart, don't get full on one thing. The food carts start serving in the evening but we didn't get there till dark and it was slammed with people. The prices are very affordable anywhere from 20-200NT on average. Most Taiwanese people go there for dinner because it's cheaper than cooking at their house. Plus it's a very sociable place to be and hang out. Check it out!

Up to 15 percent of visitors to Kaohsiung are Muslim, mainly from Indonesia. The stall holders in the Liuhe Night Market were encoraged to cook halal food, for Muslim customers.. Observant Muslims eat only Halal food. Halal food is prepared according to Muslim dietary laws. Halal food at the Liuhe Night Market has proved to be popular. Anyone can eat halal food, you don't have to be Muslim

We visited this night market daily as it's near to the hotel we stayed. It is a very quiet night market and nothing much to offer as compared to Ruifeng Night Market near to Kaohsiung Arena MRT Station, which is buzzing and filled with people. At Liuhe, must try the 大爷 Stinky Fried Tofu (next to the vegetarian burger store) and the Grilled Meat Store (near to Watson Store) and drink the squeezed sugar-cane juice bottled drink.

There is easy access from Formosa Blvd. exit 11. We strolled along the street looking at produce and merchandise stalls. I found and enjoyed takoyaki octopus balls. I had hoped to find low-cost leather goods, but it was not to be.

Walking distance from Formosa Boulevard Station (美丽岛站) Exit 1 to Liuhe Night Market 六合夜市.

A rather small night market, typical food/snack stalls, game stalls and shops selling bags to t-shirts etc. I was done with it in about 40 mins end to end.

While not really that amazing, there's some good inexpensive food. The papaya milk and sausage is quite good. Not really a place for shopping but there's some clothes and soft toys sold. There's also a decent anime figure shop hidden in a corner.

Liuhe Night Market is well organized. A wide area has been designated for pedestrian. We can find various types of street food and local products along the market. There are several eateries and convenient shops available as well. We visited the market twice in our 3-day stay in Kaohsiung.

Crispy fried squid, special small sausage wrapped in big sausage, fried oyster with egg, oyster with mee sua in thick soup, and fried pork worth a try.

We have to agree that this market is not the best or the biggest in Taiwan. However, it is the most comfortable night market we have ever visited, baby stroller friendly, and we can walk around without squeezing through a huge crowd of visitors. Above all, it can be easily reached by MRT.
