The Beitou Market stocks just about everything -- fruit, vegetables, meat, seafood, groceries and much more. It's opposite the Taipei City Beitou District Office. It's a good place to stock up.

As I walked from Xin Beitou station to Beitou station, I passed by this market, which mainly sells foods. It was smelly inside, and so I didn’t stay for a long time. The outside is also a crowded shopping area, and for me it was more interesting.

We’re staying in Xinbeitou, and we’re craving local fare. A brisk walk around the bend and we stumbled upon this quaint market. It was full of everything we needed and more. Yummy shops to keep you walking along as you see locals shop and go along their way. I think we got there around 11 after stopping by a food cart for one of those sweet rice wrapped breakfast burrito heart attack things. Lol.

Friendly merchants, nice buzz and nobody is pushy about asking you to buy anything. It’s a daily market for the locals to get their meat and veg. Famous braised pork rice on level 2; food section. Head to the last row and look for Ai Zai Cai braised pork rice. You can’t miss it as there is usually a queue.

The Beitou Market is principally a food market with cllothing, kitchen ware and other items around the fringes. The large quantity of loccal vegetables, melons, seafoods and tofus makes this an ideal place for visitors to gain an insight into typically Taiwanese cuisine. It is easy to spend a couple of hours in wonder at the size of the watermelons and winter melons, or to attempt to identify the types and species of seafood available. A must for the foreign visitor.

It was easy when I lived in Beitou: I just had to go down the street to buy fresh vegetables and whatever else I needed. The market is there every morning. The products are fresh and cheap. The merchants are very kind. They used to give me more of what I had bought or to give me a present, always with a smile! Taiwan is a very nice country with lovely people.

Fruit stands seem to be dominating this market. If you are a fruit lover, you'll love this market, and you can definitely find a good sample of local fruits at very attractive pricing. The area surrounding the market turns into a Night Market, where you will be able to find and sample most of the Local Food. The size and scale does not warrant tourist taking a special trip to here, but, if you happen to be visiting the Beitou Hot Spring, this Market is definitely worth your time, you'll love the fruit selection, the fresh made orange and sugar cane juice, as well as tasting all the local snacks.

Went over this evening on a Monday at about 2240. Understand from the hotel I stayed its a Monday and they may close earlier. That's fine by me considering how many stores there usually is.
Head down, and was shocked to see it's actually a road that is divided into two with parking lanes in the middle and stores on both sides. Aussies can relate to what I am talking about. Its like those cafes in Victoria.
Not worth the effort to go even in the day.

It's full with people in the morning, so many locals come here to buy fresh fruits, seafood, meat, vegetables and some groceries. All the prices here are way lower than buying in supermarket, and it's really fresh. Plus, It also opens at night that you can grab some snacks and chill out in this market.
