We were visiting the Yang Ming Shan earlier and shortly after our visit there, our driver guide brought us here for a quick visit. The first sight reminded us of the one we saw in Bandung, Indonesia and Japan except that this was a much...More

I’m so surprised to learn that Taiwan has a such great volcano like spit. Strong sulfur smell with gas whistling sound plus some muddy gas outlets. It reminds me a lot of Hokkaido’s Hell Valley despite this is a much smaller scale. It’s my first...More

It's very foggy when we visited and couldn't get to see the full view. There's are some parts along the trail that's having steam coming out thus have to be more careful while walking along the trail. It's rather cold when there's wind. Bring along...More

The scenic trail can be reached by turning right on the Xiaoguanyin stop on Yangjin Highway. It is approx 805 meters above sea level and is famed for the fumaroles, sulfur crystals, hot springs and spectacular 'landslide terrain' formed by post-volcanic activity.

It was very unfortunate as it was raining. We barely could see anything in the valley. There were a few spots with small fumaroles and some people even touched the bubbling water

Nice mountain view, just like painting. The volcano really near. Windy but warm. A lot of local went hiking at this place.

Xiaoyoukeng (小油坑) is a post-volcanic geological park. The area is known for mountain-side sulphur gas exhaust. (Smelled pretty bad to me. Haha) You can take the public bus there but it looks rather complicated to me, so I booked a cab from Taipei city. I...More

We made a day trip to Yangmingshan National Park from Taipei City using public transport and were pleasantly surprised how easy to do it by subway and bus. One of the highlights is definitely Xiaoyoukeng – a showcase for fumaroles spewing mysterious clouds of hydrogen...More
