The building is mainly made of wood, and uses wooden furniture. Natural light is collected through large floor-to-ceiling windows (electricity saving). Rain is conserved by the and sloped grass for recycling use (plants watering, toilets flushing, etc). A solar photovoltaic system was mounted on the roof. This building won the top award of Taiwan Architecture Awards 2007 and got the EEWH Dimond label (top ranked green building award in Taiwan). The interior is an elegant and tranquil book-like environment. People are reading quietly and relaxing. The picture is touching.

I like the idea that it is a public library being very accessible to all. I wish we had more time to browse through the titles and spend several hours in this ambience finishing up the book. so cannot comment much on other things, but from its appearance it is very eye-pleasing.

Well worth the train ride from New Taipei to this hot springs town. The library is beautifully situated in a beautiful linear park. It’s wooden design just blends beautifully into the landscape.
