Beipu Old Street is really a must once you'll get the chance to go there. The streets are crowded with local specialities and you should try the cales, the tea, the fruits - or try everything. Charming mix of local Goods, local food and Hakka impressions & feeling. I loved it...

This is actually the common problem among all old streets in Taiwan.
If you went to a Hakka old street, there must have Rice dumpling in Wild ginger flower's leave, even though there is no wild ginger flower around. Then, what is the character?
Beipu should really find out what its charming and unique character is.

Visited this place on a saturday morning and we were pleasantly surprised to see busy street stalls selling all kinds of traditional food - moochi, dried apricots, persimons etc. We were told that it was a weekend market !There were plenty of free food sampling. We had a traditional Hakka lunch of flat rice noodles and other side dishes at a corner restaurant. It was a good lunch stopover on our way to green world eco farm.

Most of the shops not open on weekdays They mostly open in weekends. If u are there must try the hakka lie chia, it is really good

Although the length of Old Street is not very long, there are still many old houses, short walls, and tea houses can be found along the streets and allies. Not to mention, various Hakka delicacies and handcrafts are available for you to discover. Historical buildings like Jinguangfu (金廣福) Mansion, Tiansui Hall (天水堂), and Citian Temple (慈天宮) features the integration of Hakka and Fukienese and the local prosperity in the past which can be traced back to Qing dynasty. If you are tired from walking, just visit a tea house to make your own “leicha” and enjoy a lovely tea break in Hakka style. The Lion’s Head Mountain route runs by Taiwan Tourist Shuttle do stop Beipu Old Street and other nearby attractions offering great alternatives for transportation.

It's great to walk around this old Street. Enjoy some traditional Haka food. There is a temple to visit. Though the streets is very short

Laojie (老街) is a typical scene in Taiwan all around, akin to the night market. It is not too bad a place, and it is more of a Kek dialect group (客家). The place is quite quaint and what is more attractive is you should try the Leicha (擂茶), a kind of tea that really refreshes your senses, more so in the summer! You can even make your own tea. so try asking at the teahouses. Have fun!

How a pity!Old street in Taiwan seems as a product from same mould.
Even being a Taiwanese, I was disappointed in the first visit. Commercial
Smell all the street.
However if you would like to visit the small lane behind the old streets, it's a interesting. The name of this lane is 水井巷. People can find the old type lives. Except the lane, I will not visit the spot in the future.

The name may take you on a journey of imagination, but the town and street are tiny and in an hour you can see all you need to. some nice walk nearby though. Good place to buy Hakka crafts.

Visited in November on a tour of northern Taiwan. Worth the detour to get here, we walked around in the late afternoon enjoying the hustle and bustle of the street markets and shops.

Take high speed train or train to Zhubei then take below Lion Head bus.
