The place is really unique and different at night, and with Marco from Ambieduca (+351 934 900 197) as tour guide, I've learned a lot of things that I didn't know from the first some years ago!

Well worth visit. BUT steep and uneven descents and climbs. Not for folks with mobility issues. Our guide described the discovery of the carvings during construction of a dam and the subsewuent cancellation of the dam. The portion of the dam finished is still visible....More

Book a guided tour to take you down to the engravings. The wildlife sketches are thousands of years old and the natural surroundings are beautiful. Try to imagine what life must have been like for our ancestors, living in these slopes!

Clearly the ex libris of the region, and easy to see why: an incredible set of engravings on a beautiful natural landscape. I would recommend the Penascosa area of engravings.

After difficulty getting on a museum organised tour of the Rick carvings we managed to get one with Marco Ferraz 966544220 who was efficient prompt and knowledgable. Total cost €60 split four ways was very reasonable.

I have taken Douro Kayak clients here many times and and everyone enjoys and is even surprised by the beauty of the building as well as the setting over looking both the Douro and the Coa rivers.

We did a tour of the Canada do Inferno rock engravings with Marco Ferraz, through his company Ambieduca. The etchings were very cool. The hike down to see them was not difficult and the engravings are quite easy to see. Marco was a great tour...More

No worries; if you are used to climbing stairs! There is no rock climbing involved when visiting the 3 sites open to the public. 20 m stairs (Canada do Inferno) or 3 km total walk (Ribeira de Piscos) are the most challenging... More
