Situated in the thick forest of Periyar tiger reserve Ayyapa temple is one of the oldest temples in kerala. One should dip in pamba river before going to Darshanam. 18 steps(padunettambadu) are sacred.

Must visit at least once in your life time. Taking a dip in Pamba river is so refreshing. Don't miss 18padi and ghee Abhishekam. Dholly for aged people available with price of INR 3K-4K.Advise to visit on non season months. Good for trekkers..

Visited after 20 years. This is the perfect month to visit sabarimala i believe (Avani). Very thin crowd. Leisure dharshan of Iyyappa, even repeated three times in an hour. Because of thin crowd, clean, neat, not so strict environment. extremely happy feelings. So much improved...More

Lot of buses available from chenganur and Kottayam to pamba. Darshan timings are depending up on days of prominence. General timings are from 4am to 11pm

I think yes, there are place where you can safely keep your luggage, having said that better not to carry too much items as it will make the trek difficult. Carry least number of items, which is needed for one to survive.

Sure. Just put in a word to your Guruswamy. Usually all forms of liquids are banned in carry-bags. I would suggest you to wear black dress (pants should be OK) with a tilak on forehead during the travel. Due the security... More
