The show was good and entertaining. Dancers are amazing and really highlight their traditional dance culture. At the end of the show, the host asked the spectators to join the dancers on the stage.

This is a really great museum, put together and curated by the Tharu community themselves. If you're planning to go to Chitwan National Park you should first visit this museum so you can understand how the Tharu community managed and protected the park for generations until they were evicted from it in the name of conservation.

Must visit! The Tharu Cultural Museum is a great place to learn about Tharu culture, and it is also a great community resource. I conducted research in Chitwan in 2015 and found the museum to be extremely welcoming and resourceful to help me research. They also have lots of information about the area and can help you make decisions about things to do in Chitwan.

If you want to know about REAL Tharu culture and not the watered down gimmicks given in downtown Sauraha, you must come here! The Director Birendra Mahato has immense knowledge about Tharu history and culture. The museum is about 15 min walk from the main strip in sauraha in an old, authentic Tharu village. They have recently built a research center and have updated exhibits. Your walk will be worth it!

Why should you go there ? IT is very small, amaturistic setting, really not worth a visit unlike the first review: don’t waste the time.......

Not to be missed, a 15-20 minute walk from downtown Sauraha. Guidebooks have outdated info about this small Tharu run museum. There are murals, statues and a new exhibit of large historical photos, with info written by anthropologists and historians. Covers topics like hunting, but also the US led development of the valley in the 1950s and 1960s.Will change your entire view of Chitwan.
