We took a taxi from our cruise ship to visit Leon and called on the way afer seeing it as a destination on the ship's tours.
What a disappointmment!! You paid, albeit a small amount, to enter an area that was designated as the mud pots. There were no real paths around the site and you wandered from one small hole in the gourd with a little mud bubbling to another.
The worse part was the presence of local children and women following you every step of the way. We have visited many very poor areas on our travels but this made us all feel uneasy as the locals were focused on our cameras and purses.
This is not the review of a middle class traveller who looks down on undeveloped countries, this was dangerous.
