We stopped to admire this lake and have a picnic on our drive to Puno. It was a bit cold and windy but the views were just amazing. It was so peaceful and lovely. I would definitely try to fit this in if you can. We felt lucky that our timing worked out so we could have lunch here. We had a packed picnic but there was a small place where you could buy food and supplies near where we ate.

Lagunillas is a small fisherman harbor. It has several tourist restaurants to stop by while you're visiting the Reserva Natural de Paracas. The beach is nice and there's quite a lot of life

The pit stop along the Laguna Lagunillas offers local merchandizes, washroom, coffee. Perfect for photo shooting with scared mountain and blue sky!

Our tourist bus made a stop at Mirador Lagunillas on our way to Puno from Colca Canyon. At 4,444 meters, the stark Altiplano landscape around the lake rimmed by mountains presents a compelling vista. Jacketed local vendors vivid displays of local crafts completed the experience. Nice stop.

Our tour bus made a "rest stop" at Laguna Lagunillas which has nothing more than a mini-market with clean rest rooms as far as facilities goes. However, the surrounding area at this location has absolutely stunning scenery - who would have thought how nice of a "rest-stop" this remote place would be.

There were many photo opportunities at Laguna Lagunillas - the lake, surrounding mountains, the llamas, and the unusual cloud formation at this particular location during our "rest stop" (see photos below).

Although I would not make a special trip to come to this remote location, it is definitely a worthy place to stop if you are traveling between Colca Valley and Puno Peru as we were doing - the scenery is very nice here.

The main spin off from taking a boat tour on the lake is the wealth of bird life to be seen in and around the reed beds.
At last the binoculars came into their own!
Coots, herons, flamingos of all colours it seems and ducks of many types.

This is a nice stop for pictures between Puno and Arequipa. Not only are the flamingos interesting to see there is much natural beauty in this area. Today while we made the ride there was snow on the ground, which we were told is not common at this time. This is not a destination you'd go out of your way to see just a stop along the route between two cities.

Guess I never thought flamingos lived at such altitude - 12,000+ ft. Beautiful but cold and windy - another stop on the bus transfer from Colca to Puno
