    Amazing
Amazing Vai Gioi cave (note: 430 steps straight up). It’s a few km before main entrance gate. Amazing dark cave (dome via torch). Amazing birds. One of the best things to do in Ninh Binh. Best part is no tourists.

    Bird park
The park and its feathered inhabitants are truly awe-inspiring! The sheer number of birds is remarkable. Observing them during the twilight hours as they soar together in groups is a captivating experience. Additionally, the gardens are equally splendid and exude a breathtaking beauty. 🦜

Our kids loved spending time there!
We arrived in the late afternoon and boarded a small boat, from which we were able to see thousands of birds returning to their nests. We felt as though we could touch some of the birds that were in the surrounding trees as they descended the tree and flew through the air. What a breathtaking view just before sunset. Our kids loved spending time there!

    Unexpected spectacular bird watching
This was just spectacular. We took the boat ride late afternoon and we witnessed lots of birds flying to their nests. We had no idea bout this park. We approached the ticket counter and none of the agents spoke English so we talked to some tourists that were leaving and they suggested we we it. From the ticket counter to the actual entrance it's a long way. We had borrowed the hotel's bikes and it is a steep way up and down a hill to get to the entrance, just to bear that in mind.

    A peaceful afternoon
We experience a very nice tour inside few caves, and for the first time we had the chance to see some bats…. The walk around (getting lovely lost) was a lovely experience. All the gardens, and the bamboo bridges…. We really love it.

Such a gem! Came not expecting much, maybe see a bird or two. Walked the long walkway, and saw people climbing into boats. Heck, why not? Especially for 30k per person, it was a nice boat ride, so I thought.

That’s when our lady steered us toward the floating bird village with literally thousands of birds. We came at around 4:30pm, so more birds kept flying in. Felt a bit reminiscent of Hitchcock’s The Birds film- eerie, fascinating, and absolutely amazing. We were feet from nesting birds, all of us open mouthed because it was so awe inspiring. Hung around there being steered about the floating tree village for about 20-30 mins before heading back.

Definitely worth it! Don’t do the walk, the boat ride is a good deal especially if you want to see the birds up close. And I guess coming in the late afternoon would be best (?) since more birds were settling in by the minute.

Amazing amazing amazing.

As suggested by others here, we went at 4pm to see more birds as they have finished feeding elsewhere and returns here to roost.
We paid $130,000 dong/ $8 Aud for entry fee and row boat fees.
We got 2 row boat experiences.
1. Through a cave of 500m long, using 📸 flashlight to see stalagmites hanging off ceiling with shining crystals/ minerals so pretty caught by our light. There were some harmless small bats on the ceiling.
2. Rowing boat took us right up close to where the birds were flying back to sleep...the view of swamps of birds flying were so pretty and magnificent at the same time.

For those with less mobility, or just want to have a more relaxing time, I would suggest $40,000 đồng/$2.60 Aud for Electic mini cart to take a round tour of the park.
We wore long sleeve amd long pants with mosquitoes repellent for evening protection in the lake area
If you go earlier with the sun, take an umbrella 🌂 for sun protection.
We Spent about 2 hours at the park and left feeling very relaxed and back in tune with ourselves and nature.

Good value...150,000 vnd gets you cave walks, two boat rides, posh vietnamese having a good laugh and oh yeah, a big gang of ibis/egret/heron all hanging about in one section in the trees. My 14 year old really enjoyed cycling out from Tam Coc though we attempted the back roads but we're blocked twice by a prison checkpoint. We ended up on the main road which wasn't too busy but way too much exhaust and dust. She felt really unwell by the time we got back home. Maybe take a taxi to protect your health.

If you don’t speak Vietnamese then do not go!
This was the worst experience I’ve had so far. There was not 1 single person that even pretended to care. There was no explanation at ticket purchase so the four of us walked in the heat on a signed path for over 1 hour only to reach a dead end in the middle of a jungle with not 1 bird in sight. No map was given to us so we had no idea where we were. Apparently it would have only been another $5 or so to get the electric car deal but the lazy girl at the ticket office could not be bothered at all to help.
With google translate and the number of Westerners that go there you would think even a little effort would be put in to accommodate them but there was nothing.
If there was a score of minus 100 then I would give it to this place.
So I’m happy to repeat myself and say DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!!

I didn't really have an expectations when I arrived at Thung Nham, I'd been vaguely told that it was a good spot to see lots of birds in the evening. I wasn't expecting the place to be so big, and with more work being done it should be a truly great afternoon out for tourists when the country reopens.

I wish I'd arrived earlier as I only really had a chance to explore Mermaids Cave (mind your head!) before settling in to watch the birds at dusk. I've been in Vietnam for a while and it's sadly not a country with a huge amount of wildlife, so it warmed my soul to see the hundreds of herons and egrets that best here. Because I arrived late and was on my own, I wasn't able to take a boat ride to get closer to the birds but I was very happy perched on a viewing platform.

Aside from the birds, I also found the park to be a lovely place to stroll around and works have happily spent much longer here had I not got my timings wrong and got here too late.

I'll definitely make plans to visit again next time I'm in Ninh Bình

Site consist of several attraction, in total you can spend there several hours. I did the cave and garden visit and take a tour around the lake. Overall I was satisfied even thought that path around the lake ended in mud, park is similar to other Vietnamese attractions, looks well from distance, but as you are getting closer something negative pops up.

There is so much more here than the birds and it is easy to spend a day there. There are caves, boat trips, orchard and walks in the parkland as well as a restaurant and cafes. The location is beautiful. There are quite a number of bird species to be discovered in the gardens but the major bird spectacle is from the boat ride to the far lake where hundreds of birds were roosting when we visited in March. Those with a general interest in birds will very much enjoy trying to locate the many bird types from their different songs and trying to see them in the bushes and trees. Vietnamese birds seem to have an amazing knack of hiding in foliage to avoid being seen!

the park is very nice and spacious. You can cycle there or go on foot. The entrance fee includes 2 boat trips. At 1 you go into a cave and at the other you sail to the bird colony. Both beautiful boat trips. You can also take a beautiful walk to a viewpoint towards the bird colony. The park is very suitable to go by bike, for example from Tam Coc. It's so much more than just a bird park; which made us doubt whether we would go there because of the name. we are very glad we went because it was very worth it.
