Beware of cheating policemen (and baboons)

Karuma Falls is beautiful, and I have only previously passed it by bus, so when I was coming by car, I asked the driver to slow down so I could snap a few pictures. As soon as we had passed the falls, we were stopped by a nasty little policeman with a big gun, who grabbed my iphone and started bandying it around like he was never gonna give it back. He claimed we had to have his permission to take pictures, and we were "fined" 20,000 shillings for taking the picture. We got away with 15,000. There were no signs forbidding pictures. Beware of this scam. The baboons are more polite, but they also hope to profit from passing cars.
