Bochali - is recommended as there are good views, especially at night. There is a castle, church and some restaurants. You can take a taxi from Zante town to Bohil - takes 5 mins and is 10euros. We stayed for an evening meal. Note - It was impossible to get a taxi from back to Tsilivi (we called 2 companies who said no thank you and hung up). We had to walk down a ‘secret path‘ which took @20mins in amongst olive trees to get back down to Zante town where we were able to get a taxi. Most people seem to drive. Road train also possible but pre booking required and only there x1 in the evening.

Bachali view point is breathtaking! You can see the town and the port! It’s close to the city of Zante, just 5 min drive and there is a free parking available for the visitors. There also few taverns and cafe to enjoy local food and deserts like “frigania”.

Fantastic view over the whole of Zakynthos from here and there are a couple of cafes. You can get even higher if you go into Bochali Castle (fee 4 euros). This is now mostly ruins but well worth a visit. It will take 45 minutes to walk down into the town from here.

Amazing view in the afternoon sunshine. While the main focus is on the town below and the coastline towards Argassi, you can also look to the south and spot the airport and Turtle Island. The square also has some shady trees which can also frame your photos of the glorious panorama. I went as part of a coach excursion but hardy folk can walk there from the town centre.

Well worth getting a taxi to the top and walking down. There are cafes, an ice cream parlour and restaurants with an amazing view of the Ionian sea, Kefalonia and Zakynthos Town. The Castle is open in the mornings. I was happy to just sit and take in the glorious scenery.

We visited Bochali one morning and we are so glad we did.
The views are amazing, overlooking Zakynthos town and can see over too Argassi. We got a taxi up but walked back down to the town which only took 20 minutes.
Definitely worth a visit.

DONT.USE.APPLEMAPS.DONT. Or you will have a pretty „exciting“ experience driving up the hill from the wrong side...especially if you don’t have a super small car...
Tip: put the castle as a destination and you will be led to the viewpoint in a much more comfortable path...
The views are amazing, definitely. A must, but wait until the evening.

Definitely worth a pit-stop to see the views even if you aren’t interested in the fortress. Get a good appreciation of the size of the town from the Bohali vantage point. Max 5 minute drive off the main road, follow the signs for the fortress. Also a pretty church.

From Zante town the small Argasari Road leads you in 1 kilometer (steep upwards on foot) up to the entrance of the castle. For 4 euros per person, you can discover the remains of buikding from the Venetian, English, ... era and have beautiful views in all different directions. From the round tower, stunning view over Zakynthos city! A nice spot to ask someone to take a picture of you as a couple! After your visit, take the footpath and enter the terrace of the first tavern on the right. Large swinging chairs with an incredible view. The fresh orange & lemon juice (10 euros total) are amazing!

I am just trying to clarify the way to walk up there from the square I have read the review by Tomv668 that says walk up Argasari Road but I can not find this road on google maps, only Anastasiou road. Is that the one I use so as to walk past the CHURCH OF SAINT DIMITRIOS OF KANESI Road
Written 21 September 2019
Hi, we just checked it on the Google Maps: first locate the bigger road Koliva and search for "Fresh Pies" Bakery. Close to that one you will find ArgasaNi Road (little difference in spelling!). Than follow Pikridiotissis till you see the church, and indeed Anastasiou to reach the Venetian castle! Succes!!!
