Located in Kaziranga, this was an unexpected pleasant surprise during our visit to Kaziranga National park in November 2020. The park is very well maintained and has different sections exhibiting nature and assamese culture. A dedicated area displaying a large variety of orchids explained by a guide, a nature walk, a museum displaying artefacts and products of daily use in Assamese lifestyle and culture, a medicinal herb garden, a restaurant serving local dishes/tea, and live Assamese dance programmes make this an interesting place to experience and feel Assamese culture. Very good place to get a glimpse of traditional lifestyle and culture of Assam.…

We came here in the evening in time for the cultural events. The dance sequence presented was like a quick introduction to the dances and music of the region. Well curated. They also have Assames cuisine that we missed. Difficult to access without a prearranged vehicle.

A playground for children is available, a spice garden and other smaller expositions. It is a place to spend a relaxing afternoon.…

The Kaziranga National Orchid and Biodiversity Park is located at the distance of about 2 km from the Central Range of Kaziranga. The park is spread in the area of around 6 acres and is considered as the largest orchid park in the Northeast belt of India.. The Orchid Park has more than 600 varieties of wild orchids of north east Indian states, 140 species of sour fruits and leafy vegetables, 50 species of bamboo ,50 species of cactus , 10 species of cane and many other plants along with various species of local fishes/ water animals. The whole variety of orchids is preserved in a greenhouse together with some hybrid varieties; some of them have been exclusively collected from local region of the state. There are various galleries depicting local plants, animals, living style , culture etc , which is really a matter of attraction for tourist. Also periodically there is display of local tribal dances by local people which attract a large crowd. During our visit we could see glimpses of some folk dances of north east India like Bihu ( Assam) , Hajgiri ( Tripura ), Nongkrem ( Meghalaya ), Bamboo ( Nagaland ) , Thang Ta & Dhol Cholam ( Manipuri) Etc. & thrilled with their performance. In real sense , the Orchid Park has multiplied the glory of the Kaziranga many folds…
