The town of Nawalgarh has an impressive number of Haveli, many of them private, some in good condition others in need of urgent restoration. One of the haveli definitely worth visiting is the Morarka. We visited it solo as there are very few tourists who stop in these places.

Sekhawati region in Rajasthan , India is well know for its Havelis. Havelis are traditional mansion for generations of families to live. Traditional havelis in the Indian subcontinent are built around a courtyard, and all family activities revolved around this chowk or courtyard. Additionally, the courtyard serves as a lightwell and helps ventilate the house in the hot and dry climates of the region.

The havelis of this region are located in small towns like sikar, Nalwalgarh, Mondawa and are full of artistic and cultural values. They are beautifully decorated with fresco paintings outside as well as inside of the havelis. These heritage havelis built by the ancestors of rich and famous merchants and landlords of India. These havelis are known by their family names such as morarka, podar, Jhunjhunwa and many more. At present some of these havelis are converted into resorts/ hotels or museums.

These havelis are adorned with paintings of gods and goddesses, animals, floral and geometrical designs. Some of the designs are in fresco colors and some with golden highlights. The wooden doors and windows are articulately carved adding beauty to the architecture. It reflects the traditionally rich art, culture and heritage of the society . Each and every haveli is different and vibrant - spectacular work of art and architecture. Seeing is believing !

Most of the havelis are open from mornings to evenings and they charge entrance fee. Nawalghar, mandawa , sikar and surrounding areas are full of haveli towns. They are connected with rail and road from Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.

Glad the owners are looking after their piece of heritage. But the conservation/restoration especially of the frescoes are of mediocre quality.

One of the havelis worth seeing. The sign of the history of reach people living in reach city. You need to travel outside Jaipur - but havelis are worth it. Just be careful - we heard (and also experienced), people in Navalgarh are not very friendly. I do not recommend go here and there alone. It's better to travel by car asking the driver to stop at each and every haveli you want to visit.

Nicely restored haveli with good views of the town from the roof. Like all of these requires ability to climb stairs

This 100 plus year old haveli located in Naya Bazaar on the eastern side of Nawalgarh. If one walks out of the Anandilal Podar Haveli to the left and takes the first right, this Haveli is seen on your right. It is extremely well restored and maintained. This havelis has many original paintings, preserved for decades behind doorways blocked with cement. The inner courtyard has some beautiful depictions of events of the Ramayana. On the top storey, beneath the eaves in the southeast corner of the courtyard is an image of Jesus. The entry fee of Rs.50 is well worth it.

this is a more "natural" haveli to see in Nawalgarh. It's interesting and not filled with museum stuff.

Morarka Haveli is one of the most prestigious heritage monument in Shekhwati region. It is still preserved in its original form and no modern re touching has been done on it.

Unlike the Podar Haveli Museum, this is well preserved Haveli but I liked it better than the Podar Museum. The guide explains the Haveli very well
