My husband & I decided to hike to Midnight Hole based on the great reviews. I originally found this "secret" spot on FB. It was listed as "10 Best Places" for swimming in NC. We went on a Sat (very crowded at the water), which...More

My first trip today to this waterfall and swimming hole! Pure Joy! Enjoyed watching the people. If you desire to dive/jump off the rocks at the falls, you have to wade/swim out a bit to climb up the rocks to get to the top of...More

This was the best part of our trip. Two adults and three teenagers swam, dove off rocks, and enjoyed the butterflies perched all over the rocks and trees. It took about a half hour to hike to the spot. If you are going from Gatlinburg,...More

An easy 1.5 mile hike in Big Creek to this gem! Crystal clear water - although freezing - totally worth the swim to the rock for the leap to the deep waters below - so much fun playing in nature's playground

Neat natural location to see the river and mountains without a tourist company flocking all over. Very cold water, very clean and fresh. All there at the hole that day were very friendly!

This is my favorite place to swim in the national park. Water is cold but I don't care. Make sure to hike another half mile up the trail afterwards to see Mouse Creek falls too.

Sooooo cold but soooo pretty and fun! No pets allowed on the trail. Go early in the day to get sun, very shaded in the late afternoon. Use tennis shoes for the hike and water shoes in the creek. Enjoy!!

I didn't get to see what it is like during the week days, but I'm sure it just depends on time of season and if holiday falls on a weekday. Weekend is crowded in Summer.
