We travelled from Delhi to Tinsukia Airport and took a taxi for Parshuram Kund Temple. The temple is so beautiful it took us around 150 or more steps to reach Kund. Its so peaceful. Not a trace of pollution and you can feel the cold wind fill your lungs. We stayed at Beyond Brahmaputra campsite. The 2 days of this camping near Parshuram Temple was amazing, what a lovely beautiful place nearby the river. I along with my group members had immense fun. There were a lot of interesting activities and as all the group members took active part, the fun for the day just got doubled. Nature walk and lake trek was an eye-opener to the immaculate beauty of the nature. Trekking on the second day also gave such an experience.

Visited Parashuram kund on 8th Feb 2023. Excellent place to visit. Water is so fresh and pure. We reached this place from Dibrugarh Airport. Road is good. We stayed at Beyond Brahmaputra campsite. A very good camping experience. They offer camping tents and cottages at a very reasonable price, you can get fresh hot food from their kitchen. Bathroom and toilets are also available. We felt a never before experience there.
Hope to visit there again 😊

Parashuram Kund is located about 50 km or 85 km from Tezu depending on the route. There are two approaches to this revered spot. One from Tezu via Demwe along the mountains. This route is shorter but the comfort level is less in addition to traversing a virtually non existent treacherous route. A Tavera or Scorpio is the recommended chariot.

The other route is via Chowkham and Wakhro which is a lot more even. However, the exact road conditions on the day of travel will need to be considered before making a choice.

A temple is dedicated to Lord Parashuram exists along side Lohit River. A spot has been annointed where a dip in the holy waters can be undertaken. There is also a belief the Bhramaputra River originates from this spot. The reason why this place is also known as Bhramakund.

The bridge across the Lohit River offers a breathtaking view of the azure waters below. Azure only in winters.

A few shanties are locted close by for a cup of tea or bowl of noodles. The olace is extremly crowded during the Makar Sankranti Day as devotees from across the country throng this place for a holy dip to cleanse their sins.

Parshuram temple & kund
A huge temples with strong winds welcome you to this charming pilgrimage set up by a 95yr old Babaji who has settled here since 1960. Babaji was kind enough to offer us a cup of tea in the windy environment & we could also have a glimpse of the Akhand Dhuni (a continuous fire) which is highlight of this temple. We could not visit the hot water kund which is a small distance away from the temple as it was very dark by the time we reached.

A must visit place when traveling to Arunachal Pradesh. Located about 2 hours drive from Namsai, it is a religious place with a thrill of adventure. It takes a flight of about 500 odd stairs to reach the Kund, which is on the Lohit River. The current is so fast that one can barely hear other over the rumbling noise.
There are a few shacks short of the place from where one can pack a few snacks or have Maggi/cold drinks.
Own/hired cars and bikes only mode of conveyance though.

Completed my solo journey which was more of an adventure...that was not by the usual route of Tezu as that remains open only once in a year (14th &15th of January)...No one at Tinsukia bus stand exactly knows how to reach there during this period of the year...Early in the morning at Tinsukia I boarded the Arunachal State Govt. bus bound for Tezu ...they dropped me at a stop that is a small village Choukham ...only with a small shop...no vehicle was there to take you anywhere...only thing you can get is an auto (called tempo there) which ply to Medo ...the road was extremely miserable ( now being reconstructed by BRO)...then again one small car or tempo (used as shared cab) to Wakro...once you reach Wakro, stay there standstill as there is nothing to take you to Parashuram kund during daytime ,only one non govt. bus goes to Parashuram kund in the evening....and you have to stay there overnight where there is no suitable hotel to stay ...so it's better to hire a jeep from Tinsukia for a to and fro journey...for me, luckily I got a paid lift by a businessman from Kakopathar owning a small roadside hotel (only food) there at Wakro with his other business...and lo...It takes you through the mountains with their lush green thick virgin rain forest...your hard toil is paid back by the splendid view of the mountains...and then those 415 steps (of which 135 climbing up and 280 down) to scale the mountain to reach the kund...oh , it was the reward you deserved...a majestic mountain river Lohit ...and the Parashuram kund which is now lying in the bed of the river....only with a few birds flying here and there...no sign of humans or any other animals in the vicinity...the mighty blue river flowing through the rocks and the green mountains on her both banks as if she has the haste to end her journey to the Brahmaputra...

This is a place of religious significance in the region. Lots of people gather here around mid January. There is nothing there other than this part of time.

However, this is not a tourist place. Lohit river flowing nearby looks good from the bridge.

Road is really bad. 30 kilometres road is potholes only.

My Life; My Feet; my Way; A lovely place to go to but be cautious of the water current as I found it to be very dangerous. Go there, Explore the place and stay close to the shores. The river mouth and the sound makes an amazing combination that would complete the trip.

Parshuram Kund is a holy shrine located in the lower reaches of the Lohit River. The Kund is 165 kilometres from Tinsukia, the nearest railway station and 97 kilometres via Tezu. The State Transport Department of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh make elaborate arrangements by plying buses from Tinsukia to Namsai, Wakro and Tezu.

For some history now...
Parashuram is the sixth avatar of Vishnu, son of Renuka and the saptarishi Jamadagni. He is one of the immortals who witnessed Mahabharat war during the end of Dwapar Yug. He received a blessed parashu (axe) after undertaking penance for thousands of years to please Shiva, who in turn taught him the martial arts, hence the name Parashuram.

This place is not only holy but so scenic that a dip in the holy waters will not only wash away your sins but will rejuvenate back your energy levels. The entire stretch to this place is scenic and one should put it in a must do list.
