The place is on-way while we were going from Gangtok to Darjeeling and falls just as we left the main bazaar road of Kalimpong. The place is very scenic and limited parking and few structures erected for view. Good photo options but this place may get crowded at certain times.
Food items like chips, cold drink, momo, toffees , fruits are on slae but at higher price.
No Toilet facility at this place. Keep in mind.
One visit can be considered.

Teesta river flows here through plain land surrounded by forest. Barrage at Gajaldoba looks beautiful in rainy season with full of water. Good lodging facility available here. Also enjoyed as picnic spot in winter.

The water looks green in Teesta River. The reason is unknown. There are many dams on this river. You can enjoy the view of this river while going from Siliguri to Gangtok.

No word is enough to describe the beauty of the phenomenon river Teesta. She is the natural darling which is ferocious and beautiful at the same time. You can not avoid her wild attraction. Moreover she is flowing 309 kilometers across the international boundary from its source of Tso Lhamo lake at an altitude of 5330m with the mejestic murmuring sound. Some believe that the source of Teesta are both Tso Lhamo lake as well as Teesta Khangse glacier located at an altitude of 7068m.

The Teesta river is always not too far away during a visit to Sikkim, especially if your trip takes you up north and to the east.
This is a magnificent river which isn’t known to most urban Indians. In various forms and shapes - sometimes as a stream, sometimes as a brook and many times as a roaring gorge - the Teesta made her presence felt although our week long trip
Sadly, due to a general election being conducted, we couldn’t do the much-touted river rafting ( for which Kalimpong in West Bengal is a good base). However, we kept halting at many points just to see the beauty of this river.

How nature wears clothes and changes them based on her mood you can feel through River Teestha. As we started our journey from Bagdogra airport after a quick while the river came to our view. The Bluish green beauty just took my heart away. I was awestruck by the calmness in which the river flows through. Beauty at its best.
Please ensure to stop at 2 to 3 points to feel its beauty and take some clicks. As you proceed towards Gangtok you start feeling its flow all over the places and by the time you reach half the way you get to find River Rafting points. We went by Himalayan River rafting members. It was an awesome experince to raft through Teesta.
Price for river rafting was Rs 5000 for 4 km 20 min and was really a lifetime experience.
For river rafting in Teestha
Tips:
Please ensure you have sets of dry clothes.
If elderly in age. I would recommend not to try such tasks as its all depends on the flow of river. If the river is in huge waves there would be chances to fall of the boats.
If you know swimming it is very good to enjoy the rafting fearlessly.
Try it by seeing the flow of the river.
Overall a great companion Teesta who is calm at start but gets stronger and stronger as she flows down the terrain.

If you have a yearning for adventure, you may well love to indulge in white water rafting in Teesta River. The mighty river originates from Tso Lhamo lake of North Sikkim Himalayas at an elevation of 5,330m. Teesta River is regarded as the lifeline of Darjeeling and Sikkim. The river flows downhill through the beautiful valleys for 172km. In the process, it forms a boundary between Darjeeling and Sikkim. It further rambles downwards to join Rangeet River, which arises from a glacier of Mount Kabru in the lower Kanchenjunga province. The confluence of Teesta and Rangeet is called Triveni- a mesmerizing haven for the nature lovers and adventurers.

This river will guide you from New Jalpaiguri to Sikkim. It is a very good river for water rafting. The water rafting organiser will also shoot video and photos for you, with extra charges. The water is generally freezing cold and clean. You can plan your rafting on your way to Gangtok or while returning from there. You will find the rafting organiser right near the Coronation Bridge. So all the best and Happy Journey

Hi,
I wanted to ask a few things
1) We are going to have more time in gangtok. So should we do white water rafting on our way from darjleeing to gangtok ? IT will be little incovenient for us. or should we check into gangtok first and make a special half day trip for rafting ?
2) Do you recommend the best of the operators/companies who are good at this ? Who do we book with ?

Do it enroute. Don't come half the way back to do it. Its not worth doing it that way. You will find many rafting operators on the road side (while going to Gangtok). Negotiate the price and book with them. They also make video of your rafting and shoot photos as well (at an extra cost). If you are going to stay for a long time in Gangtok, then better use it for North Sikkim. Its worth visiting.
