We were drawn here because of the great banyan tree, which is truly amazing, even though it is completely fenced off and one can only peer into it through the iron railings that surround it. The great banyan is about a 20 minute walk from the main gates. The flora and fauna along the way are interesting and bird lovers... More

Spreading over 273 acres this B’ GARDEN, has twelve thousand varieties of plants. Most famous attraction is the Guinness Record, 250 years old GREAT BANYAN TREE. Its main trunk decayed and removed long back in 1925 and now its aerial roots only support it. The GIANT WATER LILLIES is another pleasant surprise for the visitors. We could see KALPAVRIKSHA Tree,... More

Like many other sites in Kolkata, this place is underhyped. if you want to spend some quality time with your loved one in the midst of greenery, the Botanical garden would be a good choice. Go a little early to avoid the hot sun. Instead of the main gate, enter through the gate close to the Grand Banyan Tree. This... More

Garden opens at 5.00 am. Start early morning, you will get the feeling of wandering in forest. The main attraction is the huge approx. 250 years old banyan tree. For nature lovers/photographers it is paradise. You will get various types of birds, trees, flowers, butterflies and many landscapes also. So never miss the garden when you are in Kolkatta.

I have been to this place many a times. Simply love the greenery and tranquility of the place. I will go to the point, point wise: 1. Go early in the morning. It feels as if you are in a hill station. 2. You can take any bus which says: "B Garden". Note: Though, Shalimar Railway Station is very close... More

In our childhood when our world was not so much updated, when the words like Internet, Mobiles, 3G, 4G, data, Google etc. were not included in our life, Botanical Garden was the only destination in winter. Here the vast greenery, a large variety of trees, plants, flowers and over and above all the calm and serene, natural atmosphere will certainly... More
