    great experience
in winter there is not much to sail but there is a lot to see and experience. Our guide Boris knew us after a short walk get on board safely and sail us around the icebergs he was a source of information. You will be equipped with a lovely warm jacket and life jacket and can relax afterwards drink a cup of tea or coffee.
Thank you for your kind review! We're thrilled to hear that you had a wonderful experience on our boat tour. Yes, there's so much to see and explore, we're glad you felt safe and well-informed on your journey around the icebergs. We hope to welcome you back again for another adventure. All the best Team Fjallsarlon

Go to Fjallsarlon, for get Jokulsarlon
We are so glad we went with Fjallsarlon Ultimate Ice tour adventure. From the glacial lagoon boat ride to the glacier hike it was great. The guides were great and very informative. Fjallsarlon lagoon is hidden from the Ring road so it is by passed by the majority of tourist whitch is part of the reason it was so great. We stopped at the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon after visiting Fjallsarlon and were very disappointed, to commercialized and too busy, and the view of the glacier wasn't that good. Forget all the hype about Jökulsárlón and go to Fjallsarlon if you want to feel and see natural Iceland and not the circus.

    Great spot, nice and quiet!
We ended up booking this tour on a whim after another lagoon tour was canceled. Fjarllsarlon is set back a bit a more protected from the wind, so we had no issues. The lagoon is breathtaking and much quieter than Jökulsárlón. We preferred it to the busier lagoon down the road. Highly recommended! The walk from the starting point to the lagoon takes about 5 minutes but didn’t pose any issues.

    Breathtaking boattrip
Wild experience! Sailing between the icebergs and experiencing them very close is something very special. We heard a brag and a splash, and a big piece broke off on one of the mountains behind us, it was great to experience. Great boats, good guides and good equipment. Can definitely be recommended. The trip is unique and worth all the money.

    The more personal glacial lagoon
Fjallsarlon really is a wonderful stop when driving the ring road located just before Jokulsarlon if you are driving counter clockwise or just after clockwise. Whilst Jokulsarlon is clearly much larger in size, this can also be said for the groups of tourists that it attracts throughout the day. Fjallsarlon tends to be a bit quieter, although still runs boat tours it seems to have a much more personal feel to it. The glacier is closer to you giving a really good glimpse into the formations of ice and a the deep blue colours of it. There is a lovely little cafe with toilets as well so great to grab a drink and make a pitstop on the drive if needed.

Very beautiful and less busy spot
This is a lagoon quite close to the more popular Jokulsalron glacier lagoon. However, I enjoyed it more. You can also get right up to the water, although it is a bit of an uphill and offroad drive. What I enjoyed was how quiet and secluded it was here. You could really enjoy the nature here compared to the much busier Jokulsalron glacier. I would recommend stopping here for a visit before continuing on to Jokulsalron.

    Fast but sublime step
We stopped at sunrise in the direction of Jokulsaron. It was magical because the sun brought beautiful colors and we were alone in peace away from the tourist influx of other glaciers or lagoons. Essential step with the sun rising or setting, take only a few minutes to walk.

a dinghy trip on the lake which I recommend because it takes you where the glacier that can be seen nearby in summer falls into the lake and heads towards the sea, dividing into many blocks of ice. The English speaking guide will explain to you all the secrets of this particular place for us Mediterraneans. Here too the ice is melting with the high temperatures and the changing climate, so who knows if one day we will be able to see these landscapes. The colors of the water and ice often turn to intense blue... beautiful photos await you. The discounted cost for groups is around 55 euros and you are provided with a heavy waterproof suit with an arctic type hood.... Bathrooms and services present on site. The tour lasts approximately 2 hours.

Wonderful experience, made "by mistake": I thought I had booked for Jokulsarlon and instead I had booked in Fjallsarlon.
In the dinghy, only six tourists and the guide BEN, kind and friendly, available and indeed encouraging to take photos.
He accompanied us very close to the icebergs in the lagoon and then to the edges of the glacier wall, giving us various explanations on the color, the lake, the dynamics of the icebergs.
In the end we made both the visit on an amphibious vehicle to Jokulsarlon and this one in a dinghy; If I had to choose one, I would only do this one in a dinghy.
Logistical note: we were late and twice, via email, they changed the time of the visit; kind and helpful on this point too.
It is much less "touristy" than Jokulsarlon, very few people, but precisely for this reason we remember it as the most successful visit.
And even the cost, compared to the visit by car to Jokulsarlon (also fully booked) is lower.
Highly recommended experience.

From Jokulsarlon, continuing west, after 11 km you will find the dirt road on the right that takes you to the car park (free). From here with a short walk (5 minutes) you will arrive at the panoramic point from which you can admire the glacial lake that starts from the front of the glacier. The path then continues to the lake shore for those who want to extend the journey.
Here too, a tour with dinghies allows you to go on excursions on the lake (they give you the equipment in the rooms behind the car park and you walk to the boarding point). Definitely a less frequented alternative to the more renowned Jakulsarlon. For those who want to refresh themselves, the place also has a good restaurant.

A favorite place to see and visit during our Iceland adventures! The glacier and icebergs are incredible to see. We stayed in the Aurora Hut overnight on the lagoon and was an excellent experience and recommend for either couples or solo travelers. Aron was our private guide and was friendly and informative!

It was late November and the sun comes up around 10am. It is a great sight to see Fjallasrion Iceberg Lagoon as the sunlight first strikes the glacier above and then the mountains flanking the lagoon, and finally as the light reaches the water, but just barely as the sun doesn't rise too high in Iceland during Winter. It's much smaller than Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, but it is more intimate and you fell more involved with the surroundings. It is truly impressive and beautiful. The icebergs in the lagoon add some action to the lagoon as they float around, being driven with the wind.

10 kilometres before Jokulsarlon if you are coming from Vik, is this less spectacular glacier lagoon. The guidebooks recommend stopping at both places, particularly as here you can see the glacier face, provided the weather behaves. As you will see from the pictures there is a very good view of the glacier face, and you can see the glacier calves in the lagoon. And there were very few people unlike at Jökulsárlón, which was the busiest place on our whole 21-day ring road trip.

Compared to Jokulsarllon, this is the less popular and quieter counterpart. A short walk is needed before you reach the lagoon. The time we went was after a snow storm, so the walkway was covered in snow, so we had to walk through the snow (proper, warm footwear is a MUST in winter iceland)

The view we got of the lagooon was breathetaking, with the ice shining blue in colour. Great photostop and a place to just take all of Iceland's beauty in.

Absolutely loved this experience and we are glad we went to this lagoon that was more quiet and less touristy. We decided on the private tour and when we went out, we were the only ones in the lagoon. We enjoyed breathtaking views of the glacier and we greatly enjoyed our guide's expertise and company. I highly recommend this tour - it was one of the favorite parts of our entire visit to Iceland.

This day was one of the most memorable of my life; after touring the glacier bay, we took a short ride to the iceberg lagoon, where I watched the icebergs float out to the river that brought them to the ocean. Here, you will see seals and other such wildlife. They have kayaking here. I walked down to the water and walked along, marveling at the stunning views. To return, I climbed up top and enjoyed the views from up high, then ventured to the Diamond Beach nearby. I highly recommend this approach.

There are also food trucks and restrooms here, so it's a great place to grab a snack. This entire area is an absolute must when you are in Iceland. I can't imagine never having had this experience.

We booked this excursion with our cruise ship. It did take a while to drive to the area but was well worth the time involved. We were provided with a long, warm jacket. We wore this jacket over jeans and a light jacket, which was sufficiently warm for the conditions. We did take a hat and gloves, but we didn’t need them. We got close to some of the glaciers in the area. They do have a café onsite as well. I recommend this tour.
