The place is beautiful and has floating solar panels on them , this place has zip lining if u r interested or speedboating , kayaking etc . It has got a beautiful park for u people to enjoy . Swings on long tress and long walks in the dam will be very nice . Even transportation to the top is provided for 10₹ if u can't climb the steps. But don't miss the speed boats.

Banasura Sagar dam is the largest earthen dam in India and second largest in Asia. From the main gate/parking area to the dam it is about a 1.7 km walk. So, if you have small kids or elderly people travelling with you, you can also opt for the Jeep service which would drop you near the dam at Rs.800 for upto 8 people. There is a fish spa (with garra rufa fishes), park, small philatelic and numismatic collection museum, and ofcourse the famous speed-boat ride. The speed-boat ride ticket-counter closed down by 4:30pm when we visited, as they already had people in queue waiting for ride :-(, even though the timings are till 5:30pm. The view from the dam is breath-taking and the breeze fills your spirit. A must visit if in Wayanad.

Banasura Hills is a bit far from Banasura Sagar Dam!
• You need to take permission from the forest department for trekking!
• Trekking starts aside the trek path to the Banasura Hill resort!
• Trekking is not too risky! But, always stay towards left or straight! To get onto the peak😉
• Take liquid foods, water.. etc
• Keep in mind that, trekking starts from morning (7 AM I guess)
• I went on 8:30AM, 10-13KM!

If you have visited similar dams / lake, you may not find it great. But for the first time visitors, it is a nice place. There are no shops to eat something and you may have to wait a long to get speed boat ride. So take some food item and water with you.

When reaching Banasura dam parking, you can go from there uphill by foot ( 6,7 minutes ) or take a mini bus for only 10 Rs. There are jeeps to take you uphill too,but cost much more then mini bus. When reaching hill, there is a beuatiful view you can enjoy. Then you have spped boating, which was a lot of fun as the boat driver does few manewers for adrenaline effect. If you have children ( babies or 6 year old ) this won't be a good idea unless you ask the driver not to any twists. Boat rides are quickly sold out, we caught the last one at 3 pm. There is a park with swings, snacks, ice cream and drinks and a toilette is near by. Fun experience overall :)

It's a second largest earth dam in asia.we can get panoramic view of hills around with backwaters of the dam.The view will mesmerize us with its picture perfect beauty.speed boating is the main attraction here.
There are waterfalls called meenmutty falls nearby.one should not miss this.we can play in water here as it's very safe and we can also trek up to reach the top waterfall with the help of ropes tied there.

Excellent view, but due to poor monsoon water levels in dam very low difficult walk on a hot day.
Motor boat ride great experience, but very poorly organized and managed by authorities, tickets are not available if you reach after 11am

Bansura Sagar Dam is the 2nd largest earthen dam in India. This very quiet place.you have purchase tickets to go to the dam. The distance is 1.7km approx from entry gate to boating club. You can walk or can have jeep ride. The dam is big in size. The dam is surrounded by hills which makes a good picturesque sight. Boating is fun. Over all very good place.
