The Kanthanpara waterfall is one of the most unique waterfalls out of all those that I have visited across the country. There is an entry ticket to the waterfall and plenty of parking space to park your vehicle. Once inside, through the main gate, you will see the stream of water flowing to the end from where it falls down from the cliff.

However, to reach the actual waterfall, you must walk some distance and climb down a flight of stairs. Post this, there are 3 levels to the fall. One is a kind of viewing deck, which is where the steps end and is for people who wish to see the waterfalls from a distance without going near the fall. The second level is when you must balance yourself and walk along the rocks. Ropes are tied so you can use them to support and climb down the rocks. A pool-like structure was created where the falls can be experienced. You can even go underneath the waterfall to feel that incredible experience. Tons of people were bathing and enjoying the fall.

The third level is a bit below and is more of a bigger pond where the water finally flows. Here, too, there was a massive crowd just lazily sitting in the water. There were families with kids, and few had even brought inflatable tubes with them for the kids. But the stagnant water was unclear and seemed muddy from the above. Also, the outlet to the water seems very slow, leading to an accumulation of mud. Thus, this could be an issue, and some cleaning is needed in this area.

The surrounding area is fantastic, though. It is covered in hills on all 3 sides with lush green forest growing on the hills. The water, despite being scorching summer, was cool enough. Overall, this is a fantastic place. The waterfall, the area created, and the lush green hills make the area look mesmerizing.

This waterfalls is one of famous tourist attractions of Wayanad. This one can be covered on the way to Edakkal Caves or Karapuzha Dam. The waterfalls is easily accessible and you don’t need to hike or something. The entry timjngs are 9 AM to 5 PM and cost per person is 30 bucks. The waterfalls is pretty and then there is an area covered with bamboos beside the water body.

Easy access and ample parking. Can be crowded on weekends. The waterfall itself (approx 30m height) flows gracefully and has a peaceful feel to it.

Toilet facility is OK. Changing rooms available for ladies only. Men are expected to change in the toilets!

Be careful with the slippery rocks near the base and watch the signages for the depth of water when swimming. One place was shown as 10m deep!

It's a lovely place to spend time and enjoy nature. The waterfall is so beautiful to watch. The path to the waterfall is also easy and not like a difficult trek. The Government has maintained the site well. There was no litter or garbage lying around. There is a huge parking space which is not chargeable. The entry charges are 4p rs for adults and 20rs for senior citizens. You also need to pay if you are using camera and video camera.
You can dip in the water and enjoy the falls even more. There are safety guards to guide you.
Overall a must visit place in Wayanad.. Also. Is less crowded comPared to Soochipara falls..

We visited the Kanthanpara waterfalls in December. The drive to reach the waterfalls was really scenic. I personally liked this waterfall more than the Soochipara falls and part of the reason is for that is the lovely drive. Looks like lesser number of people visit this compared to Soochipara falls so we were able to get entry ticket here, even though we had reached a bit late in the day.

A Nice Cute small waterfall falling from the top in to a small pool. You have to walk down through few steps in a muddy and rocky walkway. You can reach the bottom of the fall just by holding a single rope walking on a rocky slope’ which is uneven. But you can enjoy the fresh stream when you reach the bottom. Aged people can enjoy the falls from distance not getting down / Not risking. There are staffs available near the falls to help. Toilet facilities are available which is neat. You can enjoy lime soda at the shops, a must try.

On our second day at Wayanad we decided to visit the Kanthanpara Waterfalls, which are the only waterfalls open to the public in the vicinity of Kalpetta.
The Kanthanpara waterfall is a small fallthat supposedly drops down from an altitude of 30 m. A quaint waterfall it is easily accessible. There were hardly any tourists when we visited the place, in fact we met a group of young boys travelling back from the waterfalls who tried to dissuade us from going to the site as the waterfall is a major disappointment.
It was the wrong season to visit Kanthanpara waterfalls, for the best time would be monsoons. The water when we visited was barely a trickle, but there were a few locals or tourists who were enjoying themselves bathing in the pools formed by the water.
Overall it was a big disappointment.

Amazing place to visit. On the way to 900 Kandi. If you are going to 900 Kandi, do take out time to visit this place. Little waterfall but good ambience. As a family we enjoyed this place.

There is a one tiny water fall once we reached the place where few people were taking bath. We mistook is as Kanthanpara waterfalls and cursed the place. But then our driver told us to follow a narrow path through a jungle like area to see the actual waterfall. And once we reached there making our way through tall grass and trees we witnessed the majestic falls. Since the place is less popular than soochippara falls it is more calm and hassle free. Here you cannot take bath. There is not any trekking or climbing the slopes so it is very less tiresome and enjoyable.
