Betla fort was built during the 16th century. Presently a ruined fort , it was once ,the seat of power of the Cheri Kings. This fort is around 120m in height and is also known as tribal fortress.
Tourists can reach the attraction from the Ranchi airport and daltonganj railway station via taxi or rented car which are easily available from these places.

The fort is not Maintained at all, Surrounded by wild bushes, both inside and outside. Broken at most of the places. Venture at your own risk

visit betla mcluskiegunj and palamu at a time, preferably during november and in rest of winter. enter either via Daltongunj or via Ranchi.. if you go through ranchi, then spend 2 days and 2 nights at ranchi to see netarhat and enjoy hill beauty and the beauties of chhotanagpur range. then proceed to betla. stay place at betla can be provided by me on demand andarranged accordingly. so also for ranchi and netarhat. based in betla you can see the entire palamu forest. the best time to visit palamu forest is end of january and begin of february, till march-dol purnima. you can enjoy palash. shimul etc colors and during the same period can get mahua and watch bears of palamu forest to take mahua directly from trees.my contact no. 9432646228

Please miss this place if you don't have much time. But if you are here for entire day then you may plan to go there. It has nothing but fort walls left.

The Fort built in 16 th Century by Raja Medni Rai of Chero Dynasty is completely in ruins now. More over, the place is full of jungle. It is said that there is an underground tunnel which runs from this fort to Dultangung.
