We experienced a magnificent day high on a mountain top at the Biolea Astrikas Estate located about a half hour drive from the touristy area of Chania Town on the island of Crete. We took a private tour of the family owned and operated Biolea Olive Oil fields and production facilities. The owner, Chloe Dimiyriadis, showed and explained the different types of olives growing on the mountain side and how they were picked and delivered to the production line. Chloe took us step by step through Biolea’s artisan production of organic olive oil using millstone and presses and explained in detail how their production method differed from the multinational brands on the market. After the tour we sat at a table for two located in the olive field with a bottle of chilled wine and served a five-course meal, prepared by Chloe’s husband, paired with Biolea olive oil products. As great as the wine and meal were the majestic views from the mountain top of the Sea of Create and the villages below in itself was a perfect day. Since our visit we learned that Biolea Olive Oil is available on Amazon. It’s now our olive oil for life.

Organic olive oil with attached restaurant. Wonderfully located estate just behind the village of Astrikas. After a very informative tour of the production site there is the opportunity to taste the different oils. All are of excellent quality and have received multiple awards. Afterwards, you can enjoy local specialities at very moderate prices in the restaurant and let your eyes wander over the magnificent landscape. Thick Recommendation!

Biolea is an amazing place to visit and learn about the process of making olive oil from beginning to end! Chloe did a wonderful job explaining how olives are cultivated and then processed into the oil. When she finished, we were able to sample Biolea's incredible oils--traditional, lemon and bitter orange. Biolea is surrounded by gorgeous Cretan views of sea and mountains, and of course, olive groves as far as the eye can see. This is an enjoyable tour that is reasonably priced and a must do for anyone who appreciates high quality Cretan olive oil!

The guided tour is very interesting, with a passionate and lovely guide. We learnt a lot of things, from olives harvest to olive oil production. The video showed at the end is also very useful and meaningful, and the final tasting really instructive. Cherry on the cake: the estate is located in a breathtaking place, and offers a restaurant with a tasty menu (fresh lemonade and Simplicity plate were delicious!).

The food and the staff were both amazing. It was the best food we ever tasted, so delicious, absolutely recommend them. The staff was really kind, we went to visit them with a 1,5 year old, they have toys the kids can play with and also the staff entertained him, it is very family friendly. The place looks magical.

Such an amazing place- well worth the trip from Chania especially if you combine it with other things in the area like the world's oldest olive tree, a winery, or Eleas Thea. We did the sunset olive oil tasting with dinner and it was an evening we will never forget! The best food and views and olive oil anyone could ever ask for.

We visited Biolea in the autumn vacation and first got a really good tour and olivenolies taste of a perfect English speaking guide. Subsequently we got the most delicious lunch really beautifully arranged. It is obvious to order several different dishes and share them. It is a good idea to book a table in advance.

The idea was just to experience an olive oil tour and possibly a tasting. Both were great, informative and very well explained - even in German. The oils are great but the real bang is the restaurant. Everything was incredibly delicious and lovingly served and we haven't eaten so grandly in a long time. Also the view and service is wonderful. The trip inland was definitely worth it.

Without a doubt, the visit to Biolea was one of the highlights of my trip to Greece this summer.

We took a tour of the property, learned about the artisanal production of olive oil, and finished with lunch on-site.

Everyone was extremely welcoming and cordial. One of the owners personally accompanied our tour and was incredibly attentive.

The multi-course lunch was exceptional, worthy of a starred restaurant, truly unmissable.

Anyone going to Crete should not miss visiting Biolea.

This was our third visit to Biolea with the fabulous Anna Maria, owner of Chania Wine Tours, for their Boozy Brunch. One of the rare olive mills producing oil with stone mills and a press, the education around olive oil production here is indeed unique.

Beyond the absolutely delicious olive oils, Biolea is in a beautiful location with views galore. The food is always incredible, the wine pairings perfect, there's just not a bad thing to say about the wonderful experience you will find here. Thank you for being such gracious hosts yet again!
