The day we visited the beach was very dirty ..full of garbage and dead fish strewn along the coast. Scuba diving was good but the wait time is really long. Jet ski guys drive very roughly, I got hurt a bit. Watersports are cheap but quality of instructors can be better. Better water sports options in Goa only... travelling so far was not worth it

This sanctuary is rich in coral and sea live. It is near to Malvan Beach and Sindhudurg Fort. Many sales guys from many agencies roams around to catch the customers for water sports activates. Prices for various sports activities, including scuba diving are reasonable, but there is further scope of bargaining.

It is one of the best place for all water sports activities. The rates are also normal. Not on higher side. Devbaug and Tarkarli beaches are somewhat costly. However, you wll find all sports activities with boat ride at Chivala beach with cheaper rate and good service.

The serenity of the sea with the Sindhdurgra fort
Scuba diving by the most attentative staff to assist you
The depth of the sea to a non swimmer is always on your mind but kudos to the assistance of the team that allows you to see up close the marine life
What lurks beneath.......
Nothing but a lifetime achievement

Malvan is one of the most popular tourist destination in maharashtra. The location of malvan carries historical significances. Malvan is also known for it's mangoes and the most popular is malvani hapus or Alphonso mangoes.
Adventure lovers hit this place for it's water sports. I have done here scuba diving with underwater HD videos and pictures, jet ski ride, bumper ride, banana ride, speedboat ride, sleeping bumper ride and the best Parasailing with speed boat..these rides took my whole day.

Visited MAlvan Beach for Scuba diving just off the Sindhudurg Fort. As soon as you reach the beach, you are surrounded by the sales guys of various diving agencies. The price they quote is 1200/- for a deep dive and 900/- for a shallow dive. But then you may always use your bargaining skills. Once on the boat we realised that the two sites were just a few meters apart and maybe not much different. Each boat had about 25-30 enthusiast Age groups allowed were 15-60 (we did see 60 yr old females going for the dive) The total dive time is not more than 10 mins which includes about 5 mins of getting accustomed to using the oxygen cyclinder and breathing from it Each person is accompanied by an instructor. The water was quite murky and no fishes could be seen from the boat or water surface. (But they say that during the winter months the water is much clearer). It does take about 5 mins getting used to breathing through the oxygen pipe and learning to be underwater. The next 5 mins are spent underwater where you are taken to the sea bed and made to hold on to some corals while a photographer shoots a video of you with a Go Pro. Visibility was hard 3 meters, but the fish arrived as they were being fed bread (pav) pieces. Some statues seemed to be planted in the sea bed for decor purposes.
After the dive is done, starts the long wait for the others in the boat to get their chance done. It took us about 1 1/2 hr to be back to shore.
Note you can dive in your own casuals or ask the organisers for a dive costume, but since the costumes are less you have to wait till you get your hands on one as there are many who want it. Each boat has a single change room but no lockers so beware of your belongings.
Malvan beach per se there's no activity other than the trawlers and dive boats. No shacks to eat or drink.Parking is free. The same dive boats double up to ferry people who opt to visit Sindhudurg fort.

Is scuba diving operators are professional in teaching ? Does they have PADI certificate?

The operators at the Malvan Jetty are not professionals in teaching. But if you are looking for a quick session, they can do the job. If you really want to get into certificate authenticity & have all the time at hand, you can always go to MTDC's scuba school there at Tarkarli.
