Just back from one of the best 3 weeks of my life at Revolution gym, I want to go back already – it is an amazing place!

I was looking for a safe place to train and work remotely traveling solo in Thai. I chose Revolution Gym due to hundreds of five-star reviews, convenient location next to the beach and a cosy village with all the necessities at a walking distance and high-quality accommodation with reliable Wi-Fi. Shortly - all my expectations were exceeded, and I can recommend this place with pleasure!

From my first contact with Tim and Aiste (family who owns and runs the gym) I always got quick response, they were flexible in terms on when I start and how do I book classes and accommodation, which suited me as I was traveling for work prior to my arrival and was planning as a go. Tim and Aiste were helpful, quick to respond, flexible, friendly, and caring. Aiste and Tim come to spend time at the gym nearly every day and they take a lot of care of the gym and people there. You can ask them anything, they are just so helpful! Thank you both for keeping the place alive thru covid!

This is the 3rd Muay Thai gym I train at in Thailand, and it is the best one so far! From day one trainers took a lot of interest and enthusiasm in my progress, even thou I am just a beginner. I started with a group class in the morning and as Tim recommended took 1-2-1 session in the evening same day – and oh boy in one hour the trainer elevated my level!! Each of Revolution Gym trainers are skilled, professional, dedicated, and enthusiastic, they take every person that comes to the pads seriously even the beginners and tailor the training for each person! They are also good fun to be around 😊

I can’t speak highly enough of the trainers – they are just SO GOOD!

During my stay I did both group classes and 1-2-1 sessions. Group session begins with a run, stretch, work on the bags, pad work, some sessions included clinching and sparring and ending with more conditioning. You sweat a lot!

One on one classes were absolutely amazing, as you get to train with skilled professional trainer with undivided attention and learn new skills even faster! And yes, you sweat a lot!

I do recommend both group and personal sessions!

PEOPLE at the gym I trained with at a time were so supportive, like-minded, and focused on improving themselves. I feel very luck to make so many new friends in those 3 weeks. I never felt alone or lonely in this place. Even when I got into a scooter accident – everyone, including trainers and gym owners was checking up on me daily and making sure I had everything I needed, helped me with recovery and got me back to the trainings in no time. I will miss each and every one of you guys dearly.

Next to the gym is Recovery Food café by Apple and Lobo – my personal HEAVEN ON EARTH! I ate there several times per day, amazing quality food, superb service – such an added value to the gym!! I have tried everything there and always so delicious and fresh! Thank you, Apple and Lobo, if you are reading this!! I would flight out to Thailand just to get one of those Coco Espresso on Ice any day!!!

My first week I stayed at 6th Avenue and the next 2 weeks at Palmyrah Surin Residence – both accommodations are excellent value for money, and I had no problem working remotely. Both hotels are walking distance to the gym, have pools, daily cleaning - at Palmyrah thou I had daily cleaning only when I booked my room with the reception, otherwise cleaning had to be booked and budgeted separately, which is not a big issue, but I did prefer to have a daily one as I was so very tired from the trainings to clean by myself.

I loved Palmyrah – it is not exactly a hotel, more like a residence, but very modern rooms, good aircon, internet, we hang out with gym peers by the pool on our breaks. Palmyrah has two LONG pools where you can actually swim, I used both – more shade and coolness in the downstairs one during hot day time and breath-taking sunsets from the rooftop one in the evenings.

Palmyrah’s manager Milada was often at the lobby working, she is absolutely lovely and elevates the hotel with her friendliness and stunning presence! She was always helpful when I needed to extend my stay and organize late check-out.

I found the area to be very safe for female solo traveller. Surin beach is beautiful for sunsets and swimming and is a walking distance from Palmyrah and the gym. We often went to Bangtao town and beach too; Friday market is great for food and fire show.

I can recommend Revolution GYM to anyone, this is a great place to improve your Muay Thai, stay short or long term for holiday or remote work, it is a great base to discover Phuket, make new friends and improve your fitness!

I stayed in June, which is considered a rainy season – do not worry too much about it, it does rain but we had plenty of sun and I got my tan too!

Remember this is not a commercial gym, it is a small family-owned place so bring the right attitude, show up, be friendly and responsible and you will have the best time of your life!

THANK YOU REVOLUTION TEAM! I will be back and bring friends!

Have just spent two weeks training Muay Thai at Revolution and it’s been the two best weeks of my life! The trainers are the friendliest, most helpful and skilled. I’ve learnt so many skills to take home. I highly recommend anyone who’s been thinking of challenging themselves to give this a try, it’s been life changing. The location of the gym is the best and the accommodation just up the road is great too.

Amazing Gym, perfect for solo private lessons and training with your own group or a great way to meet people in the morning and afternoon classes and they can accomodate any level, even if you are just starting out! World champion trainers. The team helped accommodate our group in every way possible to ensure we got the most out of training and every other aspect of our holiday. This is the gym to visit in Phuket. Thanks guys!!

I trained here for a few sessions and had an overall negative experience. First, I want to note that almost of the positive reviews for this gym are for the old facility. The current location is in Surin Beach and has only been there for about year I believe. So I think those interested in training here should probably look at more recent reviews if they want an accurate account of what it’s like to stay and train here.

My arrival was one of the most stressful and hellish experiences I’ve ever had while traveling. I was told that by the owner’s wife that they had a room for me, and that I could pay in full when I arrived due to wiring issues I had with my bank. I was told to contact her as soon as my flight landed, around 9am, for check in instructions. Now I know the gym is closed on the Sunday, and knowing this, I would have expected her to provide some instructions on how check in. I arrived at the gym to find no one in sight. I tried calling and emailing to no avail. Moreover, there didn’t appear to be any hotel attached to the gym, so it was entirely unclear where I would be staying. So I was left wandering in the heat for about an hour after a 24 hour day of travel, until a local Thai woman who worked at a nearby condo helped by get setup for a room at the Palmryah Surin Condominium.

Now here’s what’s interesting to me: The Palmyrah Surin Condominium is the exact facility that the owner Tim advertises on his website as where their fighters stay. However, he does not own this place, and it has no affiliation to the gym. It is a nice and cheap place to stay, but this is completely FALSE ADVERTISING. In fact, when I talked to Tim the next day, I was told that he has fighters staying at a nearby high rise that is “barely 1-star” (his words, not mine) and later learned has no running water. So buyer beware: The facility that Tim advertises on his website has NO RELATION to this gym at all.

The next day I was finally able to get in touch with the owner’s wife. I told her that due to her being unavailable I had no choice but to book elsewhere. She chalked it up to a misunderstanding and was apologetic. I appreciate this, however, it is simply unacceptable that I had to endure this experience after a long day of traveling across the world. This could have been avoided if she had simply given me explicit instructions prior to landing of where I should meet her.

I was also told that they didn’t have equipment in stock at the moment. This is not a huge deal as there are plenty of places in Phuket to buy gear, but I wish this had been made clear to me from the outset. I ended up purchasing gear from Tiger Muay Thai (the owner seemed quite annoyed about this).

Ok now for the training. I did a private and then two group classes. The coach for the private lesson was ok and he gave some feedback on technique. But we mostly just did a bunch of open pad rounds with little variation among them. The entire training session was about 45-50 minutes.

The first group class I did ran for about 2 hours. It started with running for what seems likely an eternity, then a bunch of open heavy bag rounds, then 3-5 pad rounds with the top trainer, more bag rounds, then some clinch sparring, and finally some cool down exercises. I really enjoyed the private pad rounds with the top trainer. He was very intense and gave excellent feedback on technique. That part was a very authentic Muay Thai training experience!

However, outside of those pad rounds you do with the trainer, there is really no instruction at all. This is unfortunate as I really hoping to work on some clinch techniques as well, which is not trained much in the U.S., but we weren’t given any instruction or drills on for that.

The next day was even less engaging the first. It started with running, then a few bag rounds, and then sparring. If you didn’t want to spar, your options were to either do more bag rounds or wait until one of the five trainers was available. As there weren’t nearly enough trainers to accommodate the class, I sparred a couple rounds and then generally wandered around aimlessly until one of the coaches was available to a boring 10 minute round of pads. So again, in a two hour class, there was a mere 10 minutes of actual instruction. And again, no drilling at all, which I found highly unusual.

I was also told by another attendee that the group classes never deviated from the format that I described above. I had intended to train here for the week, but hearing this was a major deterrent from me pursing further classes here. If you’re someone who is looking to work on different techniques or learn something new, not just focusing on becoming a cardio machine, I don’t think you’ll find this gym has much to offer.

I am happy to support smaller family owned gyms but the customer service is simply not up to par here, the owners are completely dishonest in their advertising, and the classes lack variety and instruction. I elected to train at Sutai Muay Thai for the rest of the week, which is close by and a MUCH better gym with better trainers and instruction. Please see my review for that gym.

Our son had always wanted to have a Muay thai lesson. We were in Phuket and a young man staying at our Hotel recommended Revolution gym to us. He knew of an ex pro called Penthai, who he rated very highly. I contacted the gym via e-mail. Really quick response and thankfully fluent in English. We arranged a private 1 hour session for the following day.
It was brilliant and I didn`t probably appreciate how brilliant until I saw the Muay thai boxing in Patong. Penthai covered so many aspects of the sport in the hour. Straight to it no messing. A hard constructive session. Finished with press ups sit ups and stretches. So buzzing from this our son insisted on the Patong Muay thai boxing event. 2nd or 3rd fight. A young man was representing Revolution Gym. He was outstanding. Coached on the sidelines by an excellent team including Penthai. Our son now wants to be a Muay thai fighter. Thank you for a wonderful experience. We are now looking to find somewhere near us that offers Muay thai coaching. We will be back at Revolution either later in the year or early next year. Thank you so much.

It's a good place if you actually have an eye for your craft, and try to improve, Ive been to many gyms and seen how many people come in for 2 days and expect to be catered to, everyone gets treated equally but, if you have a fight then of course you will get more attention. If you need more into depth practice and here for a short amount of time get a private, all trainers are good.

Maybe I arrived on a bad day, as the Owner wasn't there, but it was poor. Too many people, too few instructors. Huge concentration on the experienced fighters. Basically in 2 hrs had 10 mins of dull pad work. No instructions, or interest from the trainers. Left on the bags for the rest of the time.
Needless to say I won't be returning

I spent two weeks in Revolution muay thai gym and it was an incredible experience.

As I'm a total beginner, i was a bit worried to be left in my corner but the team here is very professional and they will guide everyone based on their level. The course is a mix of group training (bag workouts,...) and one on one with the trainer who will push to reach your limits over three rounds (everyone enedup these three rounds totally exhausted :)

You can train twice a day, some people may also go for run in the morning. There are all kind of levels (total beginner level to fighters in one championship), all kind of citizenships, but everyone is humble and friendly, more experienced ones won't hesitate to show you some new mouvements or tricks if you ask them :)

My last advice for beginners, to fully enjoy this experience dont hesitate to make some physical preparation and test your equipment before to avoid useless injuries once there.
