Like most other posts I can confirm that this is a worthwhile day trip from Lanzhou. I went with private car which made it a little easier. Best to get to the visitor centre in Liujiaxiazhen before midday and maybe best not to visit in...More

I thought the grottoes were lovely and well worth the trip - as an independent traveller I was put off by the comments about how hard it is to get there but found it easier than I had thought to make it in the end....More

Apologies for delay in responding but it is open all year round weather permitting just that in the winter months not all the grottos are open but still worth the trip. We went early January and it was quiet and eerie.
