We have just completed a 3 day course with Rita. We cannot recommend it highly enough. We have learnt so much and seen a lot. Rita, her husband and her team were all so helpful, kind and accommodating. They were flexible in their approach and adapted the program to meet our interests. We have come away much more confident in our Goan cookery skills and are looking forward to trying them out at home! Thank you Rita for a truly memorable time.

I contacted Rita at the last minute to see if I could take a class with Rita. She responded quickly and got me booked. She was fabulous at describing the various spices and masalas used in Goa to prepare favorite regional dishes. I learned some new techniques and came away with a much better understanding of how the spices work with the tart/vinegar to form the basis of most Goan curries and masalas. After the class, I visited a spice plantation to learn even more. I highly recommend taking a class with Rita when you are in Goa!

I have done a few cooking schools during my overseas travels and Rita’s is there with the best of them.
We were picked up from the cruise ship, driven to Rita’s place for breakfast and ,after an organized trip to the market, with great explanation by Rita on local produce, we went back to the highlight the cooking.
Even though the class seemed to have a lot of people, we all participated in the cooking process.
At the end we all enjoyed an extremely tasty meal, good company, a set of recipes and knowledge of how to cook those dishes.
Highly recommended.

We wanted to take a cooking course while traveling India and looked at options all across the country. We determined that Rita's looked the best and she did not disappoint. We took the 3 hour cooking class and learned so much about Indian cooking. Rita is incredibly passionate and takes the time to explain all of the ingredients and spices. She let us select 5 recipes ahead of time that we wanted to learn - and even threw in a couple extra for good measure. I highly recommend Rita's courses if you're visiting Goa.

I’m an inexperienced cook but Rita’s approach to teaching Goan cuisine is incredible! It didn’t take long for me to become comfortable with the whole experience, and to develop new found passion for cooking Indian food. It started off with learning about Goa and its rich culinary history, understanding the different spices that go into masala blends, then incorporating them into different dishes. Every step of the process was engaging and fun. Not to mention every dish we made tasted incredible! A must try for anyone visiting Goa 🤙🏼

Our family had the most delightful experience attending Rita's Indian cookery class! Rita and her charming husband warmly welcomed us, and their entire team took great care of us throughout the session. We were presented with a wonderful selection of dishes to cook and learned so much about the art of Indian cuisine. The ingredients provided were of the highest quality, resulting in divine flavors in the food we prepared. To top it off, we received the recipes and stylish aprons to cherish the memories at home. Rita's generosity knew no bounds as she even shared bay leaves and curry leaves from her own garden with my wife. Without a doubt, I highly recommend Rita's cookery course for an unforgettable culinary experience!

We did a lunchtime cooking class with Rita's Gourmet Goa in November 2023. It included a market visit, which was great because you get to browse the weird and wonderful things available at the market with a running commentary from a local expert.
Once back at the kitchen, Rita and her cooks gave us background on the various dishes we were about to cook and then methodically take us through 4-5 dishes including a dessert.
You can ask questions throughout and you learn about the various spices needed to cook the dishes. At the end, you get to eat your creation with a cold beer before Rita arranges (and haggles) for cabs to get you back home.
I would highly recommend this class. We even got a certificate and an apron to take home along with great memories (and the surplus food that we couldn't eat!)

I attended a 3 day intensive Indian & Goan cookery course plus a 1 day course on making varius indian breads and WOW, what an amazing rewarding experience.
On day one arrival, I was put at ease by Rita's husband and then was met by Rita who gave an introduction about the course and what I would be preparing during the several days I was on the course. I was shown a number of dishes from vegetarian to fish and meat and how to use alternative ingredients if some of the core ingredients were not readily available at home. I was also shown how to alter the cooking techniques to suit my induction hob as I do not have a gas hob at home. The whole experience was rewarding, and I would 100% recommend Rita's Gourmet to anyone wishing to learn and experience Indian cookery in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Fantastic experience and loved every minute of it.
Expert knowledge and guidance throughout the day given by Rita and her team and a great introduction and lesson from Mukund in how to prepare Masala Cha and black cinnamon coffee.
This was served with a selection of cake and biscuits that started the day off perfectly. The Bebinca (Goan layer cake) was a particularly delight.
The choice of dishes were great with mix of veg, chicken and fish and the Bolo Mimosa was a great desert.
The whole team were friendly and welcoming throughout and always on hand to help if we needed it.
Sitting around the table eating the food we had cooked, talking about Goa was a great way to end the day.
Would highly recommend Rita’s Gourmet to anyone in the region as it will definitely be worth the trip.

Honestly amazing! Rita and her family and friends were so kind and really informative. We were a group of 3 travellers with a wannabe chef, a home cook and a complete idiot who only makes turmeric pasta and it suited all of us. We were taught about all the spices used and how to make a selection of 7 dishes in the end as well as some drinks. The food was absolutely delicious and we were so full we didn’t eat for a day afterwards! Highly recommend to anyone! Monsoon season even had a discounted price so even more worth the money!

The comprehensive cooking classes sound wonderful. However, given the sheer number of dishes taught are people able to retain enough of what they learn to cook any of the dishes at home?

Yes! Nothing is rushed and it is a full day of learning. You are taught first about the basics of spices and how and where to use them. Then applying this to the recipes leaves you feeling like it is much simpler than you thought.

My cruise ship appears to offer as a shore excursion the same "Cruise-Shore Culinary Tour" advertised on the Rita's Gourmet website, but for about $USD35 more. Is there any reason NOT to book it directly through Rita's Gourmet? Thanks very much for any advice!
