Our cookery experience in Goa was superb . Rita was very engaging informative strict of the amount of salt. Lol. We ate all we cooked but on our course we had a professional chef Raymond who I loved calling my sous chef. Highly recommend this experience and added to the cooking we visited local veg and fish market.

We had great fun cooking lovely food. It was nice to begin the day with a chat to Rita and her husband Mukund. Then off to the local market to watch Rita buy the freshest of ingredients. Our menu was tweaked to suit our preferences. Back home to begin the cooking which thanks to expert coaching was absolutely delicious. The kitchen was spotless and great care was taken with hygiene.

Rita’s cooking classes were a delightful journey into the vibrant flavors of Indian cuisine! We were a group of four adults and two kids. Each step was explained with clarity, making complex techniques accessible even to all of us. Rita’s kitchen was warm and inviting, with ample opportunities for tasting and asking questions. We particularly enjoyed learning about the history of spices and different Goan dishes. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that left me inspired to recreate these delicious dishes at home. Highly recommended for anyone eager to explore the rich tapestry of Indian cooking.

Ritas cooking classes are a terrific experience - the kitchen set up is excellent & the instruction and hands on activity makes the time go really fast. The masala class is a good way to understand how to prepare the Portuguese Indian dishes so common in Goa.

My daughter, Camilla, and I had been looking forward to this cooking class with Rita to close out our stay in Goa, and it was well worth the wait.
Mukund made us feel welcome and led the chai masala making before Rita took over and took us through preparing local dishes we had agreed upon before arrival: samosa, mint chutney, butter chicken masala, prawn masala, aloo gobi masala and dal makhani.
The ladies in the back room had prepped all the ingredients so a group of 3 of us could focus on why different spices were added, in what sequence and quantity, and what to blend.
It’s experiential learning so hands on doing while you’re listening to a wealth of know how from Rita.
Good to add notes to the handouts given by Rita as you go and I’ve been able to recreate what we cooked and ate once I got home.
A lot of fun, friendly and busy and it’s whetted my appetite to learn more.

Booked in for a vegetarian cooking class. Communication before the class was excellent. Rita's husband met us at the gate whilst the class was being prepared and took us through what we would be doing that day. We then had tea and coffee prepared with spices and home made cake. This was followed by a light breakfast. Rita explained to us about the spices used in the cookery. We then went on to prepare several dishes. We had differing levels of cooking experience but this does not matter as you can have as we had one on one help from one of Rita's team throughout the course a lovely lady and she was very kind and patient. You then get to sit down and eat the food you have prepared. This class was one of the highlights of our trip to Goa and Rita and her team were definitely one of the most welcoming and friendliest people we met.

We had a fantastic experience with Rita, Mukund and their team! We were made to feel so welcome right from the moment we made our booking, until we received many wonderful photographs of our day from Rita when we got back to our hotel!

The cooking school is in the grounds of their beautiful home. The team kept the kitchen so tidy and easy to use throughout our experience. With Rita and Mukund’s help we learned how to make masala tea, lamb vindalho, prawn coconut curry, lemon rice, chicken croquettes, pumpkin curry - and Rita even showed us how to make parathas as a little extra! There was a perfect balance between watching and doing and the resulting lunch was absolutely delicious!

We have both learned so much and had a truly memorable Goan experience. We would heartily recommend Rita’s Gourmet Goa to anyone who wants to know more about this wonderful cuisine and have fun whilst making it!

Thank you Rita, Mukund and team!

We had so much fun and learned a lot in our cooking class at Rita's Gourmet Goa. Rita & her husband are so friendly and welcoming! Rita has a way of making what I thought were complicated dishes seem easy to make. She demonstrates and explains each step so you never feel intimidated. She gives you all the recipes and you leave with the confidence that you can cook these dishes at home. And all the food is absolutely delicious! I highly recommend taking a class with Rita.

We really enjoyed the cooking class at Rita's Gourmet. The food we made was really tasty, and they happily adapted the menu for me to be vegetarian. We enjoyed everything we ate, and the leftovers we took away!

Rita and Mukund were brilliant hosts - they kindly let us arrive a few hours early rather than wait at the airport before the class started and arranged our onward transfer to our hotel for us.

My partner and I spend a lot of time cooking and hosting Indian dinner parties back in London which we think are pretty good! However, having spent two weeks in India it's clear we're barely near the level of the Indian train food (delicious by the way). Having searched TripAdvisor for a few different cooking classes we landed on Rita's Gourmet as it included a market tour... It was honestly amazing.
Rita, Mukund and all of the assistant chefs were lovely, funny, kind and really forthcoming with as much information and tips as you want. The course began with an introduction, some breakfast and masala chai.
We then went on to the local market where Rita introduced us to all of the ingredients and chillies we'd be cooking with later on; there was plenty of seasonal produce which we can't get back in England.
We then headed back to prepare the Goan special cafreal curry, two Portuguese/Goan starters and a brilliant vegetable dish; all of this enjoyed with beers and juices.
After cooking we all sat down and enjoyed the feast!
We've been to a few different cooking courses and this is by far the best all around experience we've ever had. If you're in India, make sure you book in at Rita's Gourmet. Thanks!
