it still smells pungy (the bats make it so).it still looks gloomy (just like the other caves i've been to). it still has its mystery appeal that attracts thousands of tourists daily. the tour guide was a clown. aside from the witty lines that he threw most of the time which cracked us up, he was also a good photographer. he knew which corners of the cave register good camera angles. hinagdanan cave is an underground delight for newbie spelunkers. it has brackish water conducive for swimming until 4pm only. it is very accessible, affordable (50 pesos entrance fee) and available from 8am til 5pm daily.

    Nice Eco Tour
Great photo ops of a natural cave and a cooling dip on the water. Plan maybe 1 hour to visit with an extra 15 mins to wait outside at peak time. Admission per head is Php 50, with an additional Php 75 if you wish to swim. They provide life jackets, but changing rooms are found in cafes or stores next to the cave entrance. We came on a Thursday almost noon. There was a small crowd which quickly dissipated by 1pm.

One of Dave the brave's fave caves
Very child and senior friendly place. Definitely a good place to visit on a rainy day, so keep that in mind. It isn't sunny every day here. I have visited many caves but this one with its concrete path was safer than most, despite all the safety warnings. come with swimming gear like we did and be pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the water down in this picturesque well-lit cavern. There are bats (they squeak and flitter around occasionally) in this cave with its stalactites and stalagmites. The roof looks stable and actively dripping with lime water. The swimming was refreshing but not too cold. The water was saline but mildly so. Back outside, the parking was easy and the souvenir shops good with plenty of colourful and topical tshirts and sweet snacks and drinks and street food stalls. One not so good aspect was the potholed access road, but for my pickup truck with all terrain tyres it was ok.

    Surprisingly peaceful even with crowds
One of the highlights of our trip to Bohol was swimming inside this pretty cave. The entrance into the water is very clear down natural steps in the water. You can use life vests if you feel nervous but I enjoyed floating away from others. Try to head here in the morning before crowds arrive.

Me and 2 of my friends went there to enjoy nature at its finest. We enjoyed taking pics of us with the natural light streaming from the holes of the cave. We even had a swim around the cave pool, which was deep! There’s stories behind the cave, which you can read at the entrance of the cave.

Location: Located at Dauis, Bohol, it’s easily reachable from Tagbilaran Port via a 20min’s tuktuk bike drive. (Around 300 pesos).

Details: Entrance fee is 50 pesos, with additional top-up of 75 pesos to swim inside the cave! Go early at opening time of 8.30am to beat the crowd so that you can take nice pictures! Closes at 4pm so don’t come too late. It’s open everyday, unique thing is it’s restricted to foreigners only on weekends to accommodate for the influx. Prone to overcrowding!

Others: There’s life vests and even a life buoy provided for non-swimmers to soak themselves inside the cave pool. Be careful, the entrance to the cave is a flight of steep stairs down, which can be slippery. It’s also very narrow so 2-way traffic is just not possible. There are bats on top of the cave!

Attire: Wear non-slip shoes/sandals if possible. We wore our swimsuits inside our clothes then went into the cave to take off. We then changed to dry clothes outside the cave - there are public toilets available.

The Hinagdanan Cave offers majestically beautiful sights; however, it's not the easiest and safest trek - especially when you reach the narrow areas of the cave - where a two-way passage is simply not possible (entrance and exit of the cave is the same). It gets quite slippery as well inside - so best to wear footwear with a good grip!

The option to take a dip in the cave is allowed at an additional cost; however, as they don't control the number of people inside - it does get quite crowded - and life jackets easily run out.

Lovely opportunity to get underground in a limestone cave with brackish but clean water to swim in. It wasn't crowded the day we went (weekday). The cost was $P50 to enter and $P75 to swim. We were only there less than an hour but were very glad we went.

This is the only cave in panglao island where you can visit and swim. The water is crystal clear and it's also a quiet place. Souvenir stores are there. A must place to visit.

Great spot when traveling with kids, especially when it's too hot for the beach. Bring some good shoes and a bathing suite just in case.
