No doubt a sad story and one for the brokenhearted! Nice that she is remembered today more so than just after death, not that this would be any consolation!

Little bit different and maybe even al little odd but it’s a local attraction with local history, so it’s cool to visit. Free admission helps too.

This has an interesting story to it and is fascinating to try to solve the mystery. Is very close to Fort James.

Its free and of local interest I suppose.
Not a lot more to say about it, a quirky little stop to stretch your legs if on a tour.

Hmmmm. We pondered and discussed this unique site, and decided which story we were going to believe. A first class riddle, and an interesting stop. Nope, I'm not telling you the theory we decided on. Please see pictures posted to make your own decision. This is a free stop, as most are here.

This tombstone dates from 1783, remembering Betty Stiven. There are theories around this woman and her death, but nothing has been proven.
An unusual piece of history. We visited here on a tour from our cruise ship visiting Scarborough. The tombstone is very close to Fort James.

not any reason not to like not unless you think it may be your far lost relative. Great bit of unique history. Bet there were plenty of mothers that didn't know about it at the time. Overseas past history isn't the best aspect of the UK. Nice picture and a good way to spend 10 minutes on route

There seems to be some differences of opinion regarding this tomb and it’s meaning. It’s sited close to the road to Fort James and is clearly maintained.

The Mystery Tombstone is one of the folklore of the beautiful island of Tobago. One of Plymouth main attractions well preserved and documented. A stone throw from a lovely beach. A must see when in Tobago.
