Long drive from Sta. Fe. Recommended by our guide as the best place to view the sunset. They gave out free fan to every tourist. Free to enter. There are food stalls near the entrance. They seem to be building a new bay walk as the old one seems worn-out and dilapidated. More locals than tourist can be spotted here. Most are actually teens or school children.

I and a friend rode a bike around the whole of Bantayan island. From Sta. Fe to Bantayan to Madredijos and back to Sta. Fe. We had a quick stop at Kota Park to see the historical "Kotas" or watch towers. They have a mini-museum but it doesn't have that much to see, just shells. But the beach front was a good view. By the way, their security personnel was really very kind. We asked for directions and he really draw a map for us.

located at the northern tip of Bantayan island. Reached the area via motorbike. No entrance fee. There's this long strip of footbridge over a shallow and clear water. Tour guide said the best time to visit the place is around 4pm to see the sunset.

This free piece of Filipino history is close to the sea at Madidjeos, Bantayan Island.

The grass was neatly cut with the corners of the former fort having displays of photos. There was also some flora within what is now a public park.

The entrance to the fort provides a good spot for visitors to have themselves photographed.

Unlike some other Filipino tourist sites, this one was mercifully free of souvenir sellers or touts.

The fort itself is inconsequential. The best part about traveling to Madridejos is getting a better feel of what life in the Philippines is REALLY like. There was a local group of filmmakers making a music video at Kota. They are called School of the Presidents. They want to remake a Kurosawa film in their native dialect. Screw the badly maintained fort. I'd much rather bicycle around town and hang out with these guys! Their studio/Internet cafe is located near the main plaza in town, also good for checking your email or printing out your boarding pass :)

Little park at the northern tip of the island. Nice ocean views -- likely a good spot for sunset. There was a concrete wharf (called the boardwalk) built out into the sea. Nice little walk, good views of the local fishing village - but the concrete is in need of repair in some areas -- watch your step! The best part was the story posted to explain how it was built and sponsored locally: very sweet.

The park itself was rather sparse and the couple tables by the snack area had trash still on tables (yuck). The rest of the area was clean, so we figured it was most likely by the folks who had just been there.

Fine for a quick stop :-)

I am happy to see the artifacts in this cozy place of a beautiful collection displayed. The guide was amazing. The information was substantial.

If the intention is to visit only the Kota Fort Park it could be a long trip from the town of Bantayan. Not much to see inside the Fort museum.

Plan your trip. Have a swim to the beach nearby. You do not need to bring your lunch there are nice restaurants close to the area.

Pretty fortress that supposed to have been an old Spanish Watch tower fortress.
It is sometimes possible to sneak in, but it is not much to see inside if you do, and the “tourist guides” by the blue crab, are then maybe taking some fee.
The baywalk just close buy is pretty dangerous, walk over the fixed concrete only…

The four stars are for the sunset.

Kota Park is a 45-60 minute ride from Santa Fe, an isolated area on the northern tip of Bantayan Island. A beautiful sunset awaits the patient. Zero to do in this area other than sit and relax. If your lucky, like we were, you will be entertained by some minors getting drunk singing awful karaoke at the nearby beach bar.

No stars for the Fort unfortunately as it is rundown and dilapidated. Who looks after this place? Appears unsafe in parts and a possible accident waiting to happen. No way to treat a part of history!

Can be a bit hit and miss with the sunsets, depending on the weather/clouds ect of course. Maybe ask a local before heading off if your travelling a distance.

I wish we could have gone inside to explore. Not sure if the closure is short term or permanent. Took a few photos of the gate and through the gate and that was that.
