Located at an altitude of around 11,000 ft. With the backdrop of Kinnar Kailash, Chitkul offers totally breathtaking views along the Baspa River. It is said to be the last village on the Indo-Tibet Route and the first village of Baspa Valley. From Sangla, you will get many local taxis for Chitkul. Road condition up to Chitkul, is quite bad, at some points there is no road and also chances of landslides are there in this area. Although you can self-drive up to Chitkul, However, I would suggest opting for the local taxi which will cost you around 2k for one day trip. The flow of the river, the greenery, the serenity, the ambience, village stroll, everything was perfect for a nature lover. Camp service and stuffs are also very amiable and friendly. CHITKUL is the last inhabited village near the Indo-China border. A Serene place..With breathtaking scenery ! On walking distance from the village you can go to the Baspa River side to make your experience more enriching. The Freshness in the air of this valley is calm and peaceful...TRY the local Rajma chawal in here, its very tasty and also very different from the regular one we North Indians eat.the weather conditions here,During summers is not very cold when the sun is out but its windy.I would suggest to carry caps or beanie's to cover your head.
It was a amazing experience to be here and i recommend everyone to visit this place once ,The journey to reach here can be quite tiring but its totally worth it!!

It is called India's last village. Situated at 11000 feet it is a small beautiful village with a few hotels and eateries. Going there during peak winter like Dec to Feb is not recommended due to severe cold and bad roads. Even in March we had a couple of spots where the car was unable to move and needed help. The road from the highway to the top is a litlle narrow but scenic and will need to be careful while driving. But at the end its worth the drive and spending time in the snow. I guess during warmer seasons there are treks organized.

Visited the village in November 2020 was completely frozen, only could see some troops and some cars around. Everything else was frozen. But a nice experience. Don't expect much of buzz around since it is a remote location and mostly frozen.

Chitkul was wonderful experience..we started from sangle in the morning.i enjoyed the entire journey. It is the last village from Indian side of Indo Tibet border in Kinnaur valley..We took our jeep in the river side, was looking at the peaks which leads to the other country..To see Chitkul, I again realise that Himalayas are full of surprises and there will be a mystery always every time you visit.

When my family announced that we are visiting Chitkul this summer, I was intrigued. The name of the place sound funny and I found that this place had no Internet connection. So, how do you expect to survive in this conditions.
But once I reached this place, I realized how wrong I was. This place was absolutely beautiful. We stayed at Zostel hotel and it had a fantastic view of the valley. At night, make sure to look up at the clear sky. It is absolutely beautiful. Oh and one last thing, daylight ends at 7:30 PM😏😏

It’s a good destination for a day trip from Sangla, there are no good accommodations in Chitkul. You can enjoy the lovely weather in this the last village of India. You can visit the Last dhaba of India and enjoy rajma- chaval lunch. Do drive further 4 kms to the last ITBP check post. Get down to the river side , you can chill out over there and take photos. Also you may like to visit Chitkul Devi temple which is open in morning and evenings, near by is fort and monastery . You will enjoy the amazing weather and views from Chitkul.

We went via road to chitkul, Nestled in Kinnaur Valley. This place could be an ideal choice for adventure lovers not less than a paradise. The road is a little risky, advisable to do day traveling to this place. Chitkul is located at an altitude of about 11,319 ft which makes it a bit difficult to reach. With Kinner Kailash in the backdrop, Chitkul boasts its unparalleled beauty on the banks of Baspa River. It is said to be the last village on the China border.
