A great place to visit with anyone. It is a level walk, there are different routes to take depending upon time and stamina. The viewing building is a great place to take photos or a break.

Lovely walks round the nature reserve with a few hides to get a closer look at wildlife across the water. Unfortunately we didn’t take our binoculars but the walk on a sunny day was pleasant. Car park is small but free, though if full you...More

A great find. You don’t need to park in the small car park, you can park anywhere in the village. Maps of the reserve are situated frequently along the paths. Good hides for closer viewing. The damsel flies and dragonflies were AMAZING!!!! Lots of different...More

Our first visit here and a lovely 4 mile walk, could have done with a bigger car park today as it was full from early morning, ideal family venue.

This Reserve is a joy to visit! Easy strolling and lots of birds to see. The hides are great and there is opportunity to glimpse so much wildlife. A first for us - spotting a kingfisher diving for fish and returning to the same branch...More

From the reviews on here, a popular place for birdwatchers but not for many others. A new acquisition by YWT and it is a crime that another natural habitat has been adopted, and developed. Watch this space. No dogs allowed.

This nature reserve operated by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, is a short distance off the main Knaresborough to Boroughbridge road and is therefore relatively quiet but easily accessible. It has a small car park with overflow arrangements nearby. Because the location does not normally attract...More
