Part of a Good Holiday Travel tour - which was OK, this place has a circus like atmosphere with singers dancers and lots of people selling stuff - it must be good for the local economy. Interesting to see the place where he first lived...More

Being able to walk around some of the rooms that Nelson Mandela lived in was pretty remarkable. This home was one of his earlier homes, it is quite small. Lots of history throughout the house.

This was Mandela’s first house, built in 1945 and he moved in here with his first wife in 1946. The house is now restored and open for visitors as a legacy of the Mandela family. I was impressed with all the diplomas that he received,...More

The place is only R40 and they accept visa/credit cards. There are audio speakers along the grounds allowing sight-deficient people to equally make the most of the experience. I find it quite affordable and accessible for anyone wishing to experience and learn about the amazing...More

Everyone that goes to South Africa should visit the historical sites of the country and not forget the sacrifice that was made by Mandela and his family.

Visiting the Mandela House is an absolute must for anyone visiting Johannesburg. Located in the heart of Soweto, the house is now a small museum, with guided tours provided. Full of history and artefacts personally used by Mr Mandela and others involved in Apartheid, the...More

I first visited Mandela House in about 2002 but when I went last week (March 2018) I was so disappointing. Instead of what was once an interesting piece of history where one could almost experience of living in the house, it has now been turned...More
