We visited this place, but the church was closed. Even though we couldn't go inside, it is certainly a beautiful place to visit. The views from the church are absolutely stunning, the area is extremely peaceful. Its a must visit if you're in lansdowne

It was closed but one can click pictures of this church built in pre independence colonial architecture style and read about its history on the plaque placed in front of the church.

This small church, just before Tiffin top point, is there since 1890's. The church opens only on sat and sun on particluar days, hence we could only see from outside.

🌻🌻This church was a new church in this beautiful hill station in the year 1896 and Col. Hume’s daughter would always give it a visit, she loved it so much her wedding ceremony took place in this very church in Lansdowne, India during the British rule in India.
.
This church was closed after 1947 and was later converted into a
museum by the Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre. They still light the candles here though and the ‘make-a-wish’ holy water is still maintained.🌻🌻🌻
.
I was lucky to be able to visit it once in the night and later next day too and if you know my love for old historic buildings , even if I visited it twice it was beautiful for me each time.
.
As I said before , the walls have seen stories people and once you touch them they talk and communicate those stories to you and the feeling is almost as close to Time Travelling.
That’s the beauty of old historic buildings🌻🌗🌑🌓🌻
Have you felt that too ?
You should give this Church a visit atleast once if you are in Lansdowne.

Awesome view from the location. Old construction really has its charm. Took a pitstop enroute the war museum.

Churches are someway are always a tourist attraction in a hill station. This one though may disappoint you. It is a small church maintained by Army and unfortunately not properly maintained. The building is so old and not even clean. You may skip it if you want.

Beautiful church with holding capacity of approx 50 people, seats only for a few. The staff and the priest might not be available all the time. Has lovely garden.

This church is surely a very beautiful one. It was somehow closed so we have to see from the outside only. It comes on a way while visiting tip n top point.

Hi Terence, I am planning a trip to Uttarakhand and wanted to go to a Catholic church, I see from your review that there is one in Landsdowne, St. Mary's, but they don't celebrate Mass there? Where can I get more information about Mass timings at St. John's?

It would be best to ask your tour guide for the timings of Mass. They do celebrate Mass over there but I am naive about it.

I agree with GMVN Tip N Top. Its Uttarakhand and a hill stn and a cantt so should be safe ...! (however, I always doubt safety of single female traveler in India)
I stayed at 'S.B. Mount Resort' which is near a stream - gives a different aura ... people are good there!
However, I'd prefer Tip N Top.
