We were not prepared, based on the relatively plain exterior, for the grandeur and opulence of the interior of the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul. The size of the cathedral virtually guarantees a crowd of tourists but if you take your time, you can...More

How ever you describe it, glowing I find it most suitable, inside out, though it is a fortress that holds inside it's walls this glowing cathedral inside out where the resting place of the great czars of Russia from Peter and Catherine the great to...More

We went on an organised tour with a very knowledgeable guide which is recommended. The interior of the cathedral is amazing with all the gold leaf adorning the alter. A truly great place to visit

There is so much history here that a guide is essential to explain the tombs, the history and the architecture. Went in off season so not too crowded but still busy, impossible to get clear photographs but a must see of Russian history.

Everything I expected and more. Downside extremely crowded. You could only look at an exhibit for a few minutes as people pushing behind you. Off season would be better
