dont waste your time here. only if u are cooped up in your hotel room and you want to waste your gas. if you want to walk and go there. Its a good thing. you are sweating now and it's good for your health and you can workout further as you manually wash your clothes in your hotel. You will regret the destination but you won't regret the excercise. Now walk back to your hotel and snooze off.

This is a nice place to visit specially if you have children with you. You can see deer, rabbits & guinea pigs. There are also lots of plants & trees. There are also some rides for the kids. They also have a small food shop where
you can get some snacks & drinks. The place is nice but maintenance is poor. But worth a short visit.

There is actually nothing to see except a Children's park with a few rabbits in an enclosure. The name Deer Park is no more suitable as they house no deer at all. It's a waste of time to go up there and get disappointed to find nothing to see at all.

Deer park on Dow Hill was on the cards but locals didn't seem very excited about the place. Unable to understand the reason decided to try it out myself. The approach road was highly narrow and winding with huge craters here and there. Absence of any locators or signs was a major problem. After many a tense bend managed to reach Deer Park only to find that the animals would not be visible because of construction work going on since long. The token entry fee of Rs.2/- allowed us into a well maintained park which was no consolation for the animals. The nearby museum too was closed on account of Bhai Tika and Diwali. Students of residential schools in the vicinity frequent the place and we met quite a few of them having a gala time. Dow Hill is a great place to visit unless you have a car tyre puncture. The altitude may also pose a problem for those with altitude sickness.

Awesome place. The park is small but the surrounding is beautiful. The dow hill itself is home of Victoria boys school and Dowhill girls school which need your attention for their lovely architecture and awesome locations.I was feeling bad why I have not got my schooling here. The forests were misty and lush green.Perfect...

we reached here after a long drive(seems quite common in hilly areas). was disappointed. Asmall park surrounded by wire mesh fence to keep visitors away from deer.
With great difficulty we could see a barking deer in a special enclosure and that is all.Probably the enclosure was erected so that gullible tourists could see at least one deer.
Not worth visit.

This is not just a garden. Well there is a garden which you can enter for Rd 10 per head and view some rabbits, goldfish and hamsters.
But there is more ...It is a breeding Center for barking deer. Blue sheep. Mountain goats...And various wild fowls from all over North East India. It can be be called an auxiliary unit of the Darjeeling zoo.

Located approx 3km up (via Dow Hill Road) above kurseong town. Supposed to be a sanctuary for barking deer. The cheetahs brought from the plains could not adapt to this place. HIGHLIGHTS :-
1. Nice enjoyable walk.
2. The arboretum road leads up to a place called derail
3. Enjoy the neatly labelled indegenous and exotic plants.
4. View the kurseong water reservoir
5. Visit the temple at the village of Chittern
6. Visit the forest museum if it is open
7. Stay at the forest guest house if you are lucky to get a booking.
8. Visit Dow Hill School for girls and
Victoria School for boys.
9.Dont forget to visit the tiny Dow Hill Post Office and send a post card to yourself.
10. The children can play at the park and there are plans to build a small zoo. (In fact some animals and local fowl are already waiting there)
Best way to visit is either to walk up or take a car from kurseong town.

Driven by the acclaimed reviews of the past, we also rushed to the Dowhill park to only get disappointed. The Park per se is an extremely simple and very common kids’ park by name Dow Hill Eco Park. The Dow Hill Woods, which spreads over 7 hectares, is identified as an Off-exhibit Conservation Breeding Centre of the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological (PNHZ) Park of Darjeeling. Earlier, it was popularly known as the Deer Park that has been maintained by the State Forest Department and consequent to (i) its failure to attract tourists and (ii) the realization of space constraints of PNHZ Park for the Conservation activities, PNHZ has established the Conservation Breeding Centre [Dowhill Satellite Facility (Zoo)] in this cool and serene Dow Hill forest area.
However, the enchanting pine forest with the West Bengal Forest School Museum and the Hostel in its midst, the 130 year-old Dowhill Girls’ School and Victoria Boy’s School are all quite attractive in their own respects and are worth visiting while in Kurseong. But if you are expecting a park, in its true sense as we did, then you will be utterly disappointed. This is not such a one. It appears that Barking deer, Sambhar deer, Blue sheep, Himalayan Goral, Himalayan Tahr, Large Indian Civet, Himalayan Monal, Golden pheasant, Kalij pheasant, Grey peacock pheasant, Temminck’s Tragopan, Lady Amherst, and certain others have been brought to the Dowhill Conservation Breeding park for propagation and all these are housed away from the visitors’ sites. May be in the long run, tourist attractions may be entertained.
