Went here for a two day/one night temple stay and could have stayed much longer. What a beautiful and quiet place. It was very interesting to learn more about the temple and Buddhist monk life, and to experience some of it. Great vegan food as well!

Our host Mr. Choi was very friendly and helpful. There were a few more foreigners and a few Korean visitors who had a Korean speaking person to guide them.

If you take the bus from Seoul, you may find it hard to find a taxi close to the bus station. We did find one but I think I would have preferred walking to the temple. It's a beautiful route.

Please do not stay here if you are a woman alone. I stayed here and my instructor was very inappropriate with me. I was the only American person there and he was in charge of helping foreign participants. He gave me orientation alone in his office and touched me inappropriately when teaching me to bow. Then during our prayer bead making ceremony where we bow 108 times, he grabbed my hips and patted my butt several times. He kept hugging me without my permission or me wanting it and then he would pat my butt afterward. He waited for me to finish breakfast and I ran back to my room I was so scared. I called my sister and my mom and they said to get outta there so I did. When I was packing I noticed he kept walking outside my room and when I exited to empty my trash before leaving he gave me a very tight hug. I was so uncomfortable and scared.

I emailed the templestay support and they haven’t gotten back to me. Please do not stay here.

Beopjusa Temple, nestled in Songnisan National Park, was first established 553 A.D. Historically a royal temple that is home to several treasures. Hearing the monks chant sutras before snacking on Hotteok was a bonus.

There is so much history here. The trailhead entrances are next to the temple entry, but the wall to the temple is an easy path. Definitely recommend.

Visiting the temple was an added benefit to our planned hike. The temple is small and full of items with significant religious historical significance. The impressive 33 meter golden Buddha is not to be missed and the wooden pagoda has an understated elegance. Best to read up on the temple before the visit as the information offered on site was limited.

This was one of the most beautiful temples that I saw in Korea, mainly because of its location. You will need to drive there or to get a bus, it takes three hours and a half from Seoul, so it's better if you do it as part of a tour. We went there on our way to Daegu. The weather was not too hot nor rainy so it was OK. You can see lots of photos on my blog.

Very cooling weather during this period. nice scenery, same like in korea drama. recommend couple, family and elderly. From Seoul to Songnisan take about 3hr journey. Return trip + admission cost about 75k won.

Personally, the temple itself does not have much to appreciate. It is the surrounding of the temple that makes this temple beautiful. The temple is the starting point of Sejo-gil, the beautiful hiking trail to Sesimjeong in Songnisan mountain. There are tranquil mountain lake, clean streams and waterfalls along the way.

Songnisan is a beautiful but least visited national park, which means clean and quite place to hike without so much physical efforts. If you want to avoid a crowd of tourists and enjoy a peaceful holiday, this temple is a place to start.

I am surprised this temple has very few reviews on trip advisor. This was one of my favorite if not my favorite temple in the country. I highly recommend doing a temple stay here. It was one of the highlights of our trip. It is located in a beautiful area and a great place to get away from the big city.

I came to Beopjusa for a two-day Templestay experience at the end of a business trip to Seoul. The bus from Seoul was billed as lasting 3.5 hours but it was actually well over four hours due to heavy traffic in Seoul, so I wound up arriving late at the temple, which was not a problem as the Templestay people rearranged the schedule for me so I didn't miss anything. The photos of the walk from the bus stop to the temple that were sent to me ahead of time were really helpful. The temple is in an amazingly beautiful location and the Templestay program is a very interesting way to experience a little bit of Korean Buddhist history and culture. I enjoyed hiking to the top of the mountain behind the temple on the second day to see the sunrise. The colours of the fall foliage were amazing. I feel very lucky to have been able to visit the temple and will not forget what I experienced there.
