The Overland Adventure Club from the UK visited in 2016 during our extensive tour of Romania, and this was a very impressive destination. Wild bears were in the area too.
We went prior to the bathing ban, and enjoyed a remarkable swim in there - shame it's now banned, but the reasons do seem reasonable.

Being disabled and unable to walk great distances the staff ( who spoke English) were helpful and transported us from car park to lake. Not many people about so was able to move about easily. Lovely chapel well worth seeing. The scenery was magnificent and spectacular. Also saw a bear on route to the lake.

Verry nice view and a verry quiet place. Is only nature with few human buildings. A good place to meditating. Maybe with snow is better

It is great. I was disappointed you couldn’t swim there since it says nothing about it online. There is a bar type place which has very nice snacks. The view was incredible, I haven’t been in autumn but i think it would look great around that time. There is about a 20 min walk down from the car park and there is places with great views, parking for 3 hours is 30 lei (about 5,80€)

One of the most beautiful lakes I've ever seen. It's so clean that you can see the bottom of the lake and the animal kingdom. It's a pity that nowadays bathing is forbidden.

The lake is so beautiful. During Autumn the lake looks even more special with all the colours. Try to get there as early as possible. We arrived around 9:30-10AM and there were no tourists. You can enjoy the sides without any noise and take amazing photos.
Parking is 24lei for 3 hours. You have plenty of time to see the lake and go to Tinovul Mohos - this is really close to the parking area. You can visit Tinovul Mohos for free. There is a tour guide hourly. It’s quite an interesting place, worth the visit.

I have long wanted to reach St. Anne's Lake. A place of special beauty, the only volcanic lake in Romania, located near the resort Tusnad.
The shape of the lake resembles the palette of a painter, and the water of the lake is of a very high purity, close to distilled water. People also come on pilgrimage and pray at the stone chapel, it is said that St. Anne helps young people to find their mate.

A very clean and quiet place. It costs 24 lei parking space (2 hours), you have time to visit the lake, on the way to the lake is a beautiful place where you can see a panoramic view. Also in this money right next to the cottage where the ticket is purchased, even a 3-minute walk away you can go on a 45-minute hike where you will see a former lake covered by the eruption of the volcano. Here are landscapes and a super interesting history. Plus the guide made the hike much more interesting.

Crowded place, you have to pay 24 lei for parking even for 1/2 hour and you need to walk 2 km on foot to reach the lake.
It's not worth the effort when you can visit other lakes nearby for free and reachable by car.

Is it safe for children to swim in Saint Anna Lake? Is the water warm enough for very young children?

Hi, yes, it is very safe but the temperature of the water depends on the weather. In August is the best time to swim in the water. :) There are a lot of kids swimming usually so don't worry and go. PS. next to the lake you will find two bars in case you want something to drink.
