It was November 19,2022 When we are still in the port rain started to drop for few minutes. But when we leave and arrive Manjuyod White Sandbar the rain is gone and the beautiful sun started shine. We stayed sandbar for an hour to eat seafoods, take pictures, then we go hunt for dolphins after 25 minutes of hunting we finally got to see hundreds of dolphins.

Manjuyod white Sandbar is called the Maldives of the Philippines, the best time to go there if wish to see a larger portion of the sand would be the month of October to January, in this seasons you can witness the lowtide in the morning as early as 5am to 12 noon. But if you wish to see it dolphins I suggest April to August.

Located in Bais, Negros Oriental. Just a few hours away from Dumaguete City. Please don't expect luxurious beaches like Maldives. Manjuyod is budget-friendly and accessible. Try to go early like 5:30 AM coz you won't see the sandbar when it's high-tide. Always check the weather before going so you won't get disappointed. Skip the dolphin tour for god's sake! Those sweet animals need to be protected. Cheers! -pinaynomad

Beach is my ultimate stress reliever! And even though the long stretch of white sand bar is not clearly visible when I visited it doesn't affect the beauty of the place. I'll come back for the beach and the dolphin watching 😊

Going to Manjuyod from Dumaguete would tiik you an hour and a half. From Dumaguete's Ceres Bus Station, you can take buses with signboards of Bais, Manjuyod or Canlaon. But before going to Manjuyod sandbar and dolphin watching, you can reserve a tour before hand. My tourguide for Manjuyod sandar with dolphin watching is sir Cham Narciso (0-nine-26-three-six-1-four-23-zero). You can find him on facebook. Fare from Dumaguete to Bais is php60. You will alight at the Bais bus stop adjacent to Jollibee. From there you can charter a trike to your hostel or inn. Trike drivers can recommend you what is the best inn or hostel if you arrive at niggt fir tomorrows tour. Btw, be sure to check your calendar for low tides so that you can enjoy the sandbar. The sandbar is 15 mins. away from the port. The waters from the sandbar is clear and shallow. You can rent the stilt houses either for day use or overnight. There are a lot of water activities in the area and boatmen and women who sell their wares to tourists. I just wished that these activities be lessened to preserve the place because if not, a few years from now, this sandbar destination will go to waste. And I think that the LGU of Bais or its Tourism Office is not doing anything to preserve the place. They are just for the money they regularly collect from the tourists. They don't even clean the place. Maybe a few years ago, it may be called the Maldives of the Philippines, but not anymore, it just a plain sandbar destination and on its way to deterioration.

I am looking forward to check out this place for they claim it is the Maldives of the Philippines. We went early from Dumaguete have a good guide with us which my cousin took care of the Booking. It is still low tide when we arrived, have a cottage rented for we got a 2 year old with us we cannot expect her to stay in the boat for the whole day activities,my decision was right...we had eaten a fresh sea urchin with their own condiment made it taste good than having it as an uni🤭,I am expecting that the water be clearer it is not,the serenity of the place is not there anymore for there are vendors via boat roaming around I can understand it is an income for them as well the noise of the jet ski around which some can be rented..so you really cannot enjoy the place and where we rented the other guests who did not rent a cottage place their drinks on our steps as if it is their own...this is not local people you know what I mean...So our guide told them nicely to get their stuffs out...lucky for them that they did not deal with me😉.In summary we just enjoy the hustle and bustle of the place. I checked it out and done with it.

A must to wake up early to enjoy the sandbar in the early morning and the rising of the sun. Then the dollhin watching will be after taking a picture of the 6km sandbar. You can also enjoy lunch while docking in the waters once the water rises. It is one of the best places to go to.

Manjuyod Sandbar is bigger than most sandbar destinations in the Philippines so there are more spots to explore. If you stay for a whole day, you can also see how the tides change and how the sea slowly floods the expansive sandbar. Though I can't shake the feeling of how I had more fun and felt more satisfied visiting other sandbar destinations. Food sold at the sandbar is also expensive, and the houses on stilts seem to be one big storm away from collapsing.

Pro Tip: The sandbar is much closer to Campuyo in Manjuyod municipality compared to Bais City. You can hire a boat from here at a much cheaper rate but be ready to trudge along coastal mudflats and seagrass during low tide. For a small fee, you can take a shower in one of the local huts and get cleaned up after your trip.
