I was really expecting this Viking living museum on Birka island to be really something special. But unfortunately, when I was there, there weren't any scheduled events going on. There are docents giving walking tours only in Swedish. Who talked about the daily life back in the day etc. And a small on site museum of Viking life was interesting.... More

Hello! I think you have reviewed the wrong Viking Village. Are you sure you were not at Birka and Hovgarden where you take a ferry from Stockholm to get there? We are located one hour north of Stockholm and you can get to us by car. You are welcome to come when we are open in the summer! With kind... More

Family oriented activities, such as baking your own viking bread an knitting a wooden basket. The vikings show off games, "fighting" and tell sagas. Great fun, the kids loved it!

I am a french journalist writing about vikings and travelling. I came during summer 2013. I was an expat in Stockholm at that time and I spent a year travelling through Sweden/Danemark/Norway to visit all the vikings sites with my kids. I absolutly adored Storholmen. At the time my kids were really fed up with all the viking villages, museums,... More

In this little viking village, you feel like you have travelled back in time. All staff is dressed in period costume and you get to try out activities like wool felting, bow and arrow shooting and baking, while hearing the loveliest educational information about all of it. Viking kids are running around, playing and participating in everything. There are also friendly... More

We had a ball listening to the Viking stories and music. We traveled with a 10 and 13 year old whole had a blast watching old Viking games and learning about Viking traditions. Even in the rain it was worth the hours drive from Stockholm!

What a great place to take my son. I loved feeling like I was stepping back in time. They had great activities (like dagger throwing! and bread making) and it was fun just to wander around.

A fun place for kids and adults. You get to learn lots about the vikings and also try out baking and other things like working with wool. They tell stories and do interactive genuine viking games. You can bring your own food, or eat there.

Who is attracted to the Viking culture and is located in the area can not do without to have a ride. It 'was exciting and fun, the only problem was that it's outdoors and was raining so we have not been able to enjoy it to the fullest.
