In October, I organized a day trip to Asinara with a friend. We had originally hoped to spend two days on the island, but the hostel was already closed, so we opted for a one-day visit and decided to explore the island by bike. I contacted the park company to purchase tickets online for the return journey on the Ausonia motorboat for two people, including costs for the bicycles.

The first aspect that struck me was the price of the tickets, which I found quite high, but I decided to proceed anyway, since I really wanted to have this experience. However, I noticed that no detailed information was included in the online ticket I received via email, except the departure time was 9:30 AM and the return time was 4:30 PM. This lack of detail caused us some difficulty boarding, as the ticket email did not contain any information about where the boarding point was located.

Before boarding, we were required to pay a disembarkation fee of €2.50 per person, which was also not mentioned in the ticket email. Additionally, on the handwritten charge they issued, a boarding time of 3:45 pm was listed.

Once we arrived at Asinara around 10am, we were given no support or guidance regarding possible cycling routes, so we had to improvise our visit. We managed to reach Cala Reale, where we stopped for half an hour for lunch and then started the return journey, without making long stops. Arriving at the port of Cala Finanza at 3.45pm, we decided to have a coffee, assuming that the departure time was set at 4.30pm, given that usually boarding and departure are two distinct phases.

However, at 4.03pm we realized that the motorboat had already left (the only one of this company that was returning that day). This event made me think: if the ticket clearly states the departure time of 4.30pm and I paid for this service, they should respect it. Boarding and departure times should be clear and not subject to interpretation.

Furthermore, the company had my phone number and could have notified me of the impending departure. The motorboat was also very close to the bar we were in, but no one came close to make sure all the passengers were on board.

After this unpleasant incident, I contacted the agency to report the incident. Unfortunately, the lady who answered me reacted very negatively, placing the blame on me, shouting and not allowing me to explain my side of the story. Eventually, he ended the call abruptly, claiming that my complaints were nonsense (he used that term).

In summary, I believe this company needs to stop focusing only on their profits, while also considering the well-being of customers and providing professional service. If they can't change departure times on their website, they should at least provide customers with clear and detailed communications via email. It is crucial to pay more attention to customer needs, include detailed ticket information, and provide courteous service and effective communications. These operators are not to be rewarded, on the contrary...

The island is beautiful but a terrible experience with the sbsasinara organization, the Il Gabbiano boat that takes you from Stintino to Asinara is to be avoided, rude staff, they treat customers without courtesy and without respect. the excursion by train was interesting, the guide was very competent but, if you want to visit the island, I recommend renting the bikes or vehicles available (quod, off-road vehicle, etc.). I must also point out that lunch on board was a disappointment, a small plate of seafood-flavoured pasta without water or bread. all for the "modest" sum of €70 and be careful, in case of non-menu requests such as water or wine a receipt will not be issued and if you ask rudely they will point out that it will only be issued upon request.

We arrived there on August 10th, by motorboat that left from the Marina di Stintino tourist port, important for those arriving from outside because you could get to the wrong port as in our case.
The tour is done on a green rubber-tyred train, which makes a few stops, the first of which to explain the local flora, made up of Mediterranean scrub and native plants.
The second stop was dedicated to swimming in the sea in a cove, where nearby there is a chapel with an ossuary.
The tour continued up to Cala Reale where on board the motorboat we were served lunch based on pasta with shrimp sauce, but for those with special needs or in the case of children you can request a white pasta.
Drinks, be it water, coffee, etc... are all to be paid separately.
After the lunch stop we continued to the prisons where we took a new break to visit them. After which we undertook the journey back to the motorboat, but not before making another stop in another cove. the tour lasts approximately 8 hours, from approximately 10am to 6pm. During the route we were also able to see the famous white donkeys but also the classic ones, and a family of wild boars.
our guide, Luisella, was very kind and prepared, unlike the driver of the other train, a very rude girl who did not welcome us in the best way. Anyway, a nice experience to have.

Very expensive, only one return trip in the evening. No restaurants, only a kiosk at the ferry dock which closes an hour before departure. Quite a desolate island. The praised beaches are not accessible. Almost all the buildings are closed or not in use. Only the many wild donkeys, including white ones, are worth seeing. If you want to save money and time (the crossing is quite expensive) you should not do it. Sardinia has a lot to see almost everywhere.

Nice tour of the island by train and competent guide
The negative side concerns lunch, rice with fish of which there was no sign and to be paid separately! There's no way that €70 doesn't include a bottle of water!
Itinerary with stops described on the flyer not respected

We visited Asinara at the beginning of September 2023. The organization of the day was to our liking, the train solution to visit the island is convenient. Exceptional Antonia, our guide. But the pilot who from Formelli to Stintino holds the rudder with his feet (and not in a metaphorical sense) while also handling the phone... we didn't find him professional at all! Especially considering that he was carrying at least 100 people on the motorboat (and not parcels).

We visited this beautiful island by choosing the ferry + train option with a guide which allowed us to explore it all comfortably seated, covering a route of 25 km.
It is truly a paradise, we saw the donkeys roaming free as well as a mouflon, we visited Cala Reale and the former maximum security prison and we bathed in the beautiful Cala Ossario.
The famous red house where judges Falcone and Borsellino stayed in Cala d'Olive is interesting.
Stunning water, the scent of mastic and a quiet that cannot be found elsewhere.
Asinara is a very wild island, so it is best to bring something to drink and eat as there are only two bars, one in Fornelli where the ferry docks and one in Cala d'Olive.
In summer it is very hot and it is necessary to wear a hat.
Absolutely worth visiting if you are in those parts!

We decided on August 10th to visit Asinara with the little green train, a tour that includes a visit plus transport from Stintino to the island. Our guide, Luisella, was very knowledgeable and explained many things about the flora and fauna (the donkeys are beautiful) and we made two bathroom stops and a visit to the prison.
The only negative note: as soon as we arrived there was a lady, the driver of one of the two trains, who was really rude and rude, in fact there was an initial confusion about who should get on which train.
Luckily we ended up on the other train and we loved the tour.

We visited this beautiful island via a wonderful boat trip to say the least with the Rosa dei Venti boat with Luciano super guide super chef with the catch of the day given to him. We visited the prison, luckily for us we also saw two donkeys now in extinction, the albino ones. I would have to write two pages to tell everything but I recommend you absolutely visit this protected park.

So where to start, they made a mistake with the booking and after a useless and avoidable discussion they allowed us to add another passenger. The unprofessional staff always addressed us with great discourtesy and rudeness. The train tour according to the voucher included visiting some sites that they didn't let us visit. Not to mention the plate of pasta accompanied by nothing, neither a piece of bread nor water which are the basis for us Italians. However, water was available if you paid extra, too bad they didn't issue a receipt and if you pointed it out with great arrogance they told you that all you had to do was ask. I believe that the Guardia di Finanza has another opinion on this matter. Upon returning unfortunately an hour early due to very rough seas, a member of the crew, instead of reassuring her, turned to her with great rudeness and told her what she understood about what she was doing. happening. An experience not to be repeated with the Il Gabbiano company.
