    Amazing Park
This was not on my list of places to visit but my guide enquired so I went for it and it was so enjoyable that I spent nearly 3 hours inside. Lots of amazing trees and flowering plants. Many different spaces and amazing landscape. Definitely worth the visit!

    Giant bamboo wow!
A lovely afternoon visit to the gardens. They are very spacious and have particularly interesting sections including the cycads, giant bamboo, cabbage palm Avenue and orchid house. Wish we had take a picnic, as the vibe would be perfect to sit and relax for an afternoon in the sun. There is a small cafe with a limited selection and clean toilets. Also a discount on entry to students (foreign).

Great flowers and plants and calm atmosphere
What a a relaxed balance compared to busy and loud Kandy and for a reasonable entrance fee. We really loved the big flowering trees and the giant bamboo by the river. Also the hanging bridge was nice. We spend a good 3 hours here and liked the calm ambience.

    Beautiful Gardens
You will need at least three hours in these gardens (we only managed to see about half). If you go right after you have entered visit the Orchid House and go further walking alongside the river look up to see the fruit bats. So many examples of trees, bamboos and palms, highly recommend a visit.

Peaceful Tranquility in the Heart of Kandy
Amazing place with fantastic landscaped gardens and various outhouses containg everything from ferns to orchids. The grounds are beautifully laid out and plants well and clearly labelled making it a joy to walk around and take in such a delightful plethora of floral abundance. Give yourself a good 2 hours or more as the gardens are huge and to rush would take away the joy of this wonderful place

    Oasis of calm
The gardens are nice way to spend a couple of hors away from the city. Very well planned out to circumnavigate without having to meander too much. The rickety suspension bridge across the river was an experience - a few more than the recommended 6 when we were on it.

    Beautiful botanical garden in Kandy
I enjoyed visiting this well marked botanical garden. Many varieties of plants and native trees here. There are some interesting palms and it’s nice walking around. I could only spend an hour but one could easily spend more time relaxing in the lawns. It’s right next to the river.

A must visit place in Kandy
An absolutely beautiful place. A real oasis of calm and beauty in a frantic city. So much to see over 3-4 hours (including a spot of lunch). Be prepared to walk the perimeter to see it all including the bat colony in one corner of the park(hard to miss, follow the cacophony), the monkey zone, the suspension bridge (for max 6 but probably 20 on when we visited- guard seemed to nod everyone through!). Then a multitude of specialist plant houses and flower beds. Simply stunning

    Wonderful place
This place was simply amazing. So much natural beauty on display. We managed to spend over 5hrs in here. You could do it faster but we could have easily spent more time here. Staff are really friendly throughout the gardens and we got pulled aside quite a few times for them to point out things. They seemed to take a very keen interest in making sure visitors saw things they might otherwise miss. Huge colony of fruit bats was pointed out to us. Troops of Toque macaques abound, plenty of magnificent birds and amazing displays of colour from the flowers. In some areas the scent of the flowers was quite heady. Restaurant on site we didn't try but the shop next to it selling drinks and snacks was really good value considering we were a captive audience. Probably our best value day in Kandy and quite possibly my favourite attraction. Highly recommended

    Beautiful! Highly recommend
I visited here in December. The weather was nice and the gardens were beautiful! There were a wide variety of vegetation, including lots of tall trees, and very pretty plants. There were also lots of monkeys chilling around the place. There are bats too, you can hear them up in the trees. They are big bats, but I was told they are vegetarians. The grounds had lots of families and couples hanging about but it def did not feel crowded. There are bathrooms in the garden and they seem sanitary. Highly recommend!

Every time we go anywhere near Kandy we visit the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya and spend an hour walking through them. As usual and as expected, they were excellent.

Beautiful site from start to finish. Unfortunately we could not get an electric car to tour the park, and did most of 63 acres of it on foot in 35 degree heat. However, the majestic trees provide much needed shade and it did not seem too strenuous after all.

Many trees have been planted by dignitaries of times past, such as King George and Queen Mary of England in 1901. Queen Elizabeth II also visited twice, in 1954 and in 1981.

We found the experience very fulfilling and learned about many previously unknown trees and plants.

Monkeys add a funny aspect to the experience. Just mind you don’t leave your bag on the floor.

Very good toilet facilities.

Highly recommended.

Tourism in Sri Lanka is being affected by a disappointing two-tier system that shows no respect for foreign visitors at attractions, 3000rs for foreigners and a fraction of the price for locals. This problem is reflected in the declining number of returning tourists. Despite having visited the country many times over the last 13 years with my Sri Lankan wife and her family, I have not seen any improvement in this situation, only a rise in costs.

As someone who has visited many botanical gardens, I must say that this one is mediocre at best. The only highlight for me was watching the fruit bats.

Nice place to go to get away from the hustle and loudness of the city for a few hours. Probably wouldn’t make a special trip there to go. Beware of the scammers in the park who work there. They will call you over and tell you to follow them to quiet part of the park tell you to look at the tree like they are an expert and then ask for money. The first time we fell for it thinking this guy had something valid to tell us about the tree. The second and third time just politely declined. But all over the park we saw other tourists being conned in the same way. Being led down the paths away from the main path. Not only do you pay considerably more to get in than local people, you are then extorted by the workers once inside. Beware

A great botanical garden. Many species unique to Sri Lanka. A nice place to stroll. It is quite large and provides a quiet space to get away from the noise and crowds of Kandy.

A rally lovely & relaxing place to visit with many areas to enjoy throughout the gardens, some fabulous views to enjoy. A lot of history too, to absorb. The variety & care taken for the upkeep is first rate. Ensure you allow yourself the time to properly enjoy this place. Views from the suspension bridge are fantastic as well as interesting engineering construction.
