As a local the entrance fee is negligible. 2& 1/2 hrs at a leisurely pace with a picnic stop and we didn't even cover half. the diversity is amazing, Grass to Bamboo, Orchids to palms. Ancient giants to pygmy bushes... Could be better maintained, but would require an army! Easily accessible by public transport, 15 min out of Kandy by... More

There are many features that make this botanical garden stand out from others: the trees planted at the circle by international dignitaries and royalty; the orchid collection; the bats in the trees and the map of Sri Lanka made out of water and plants. Take the bus ... it's worth it.

These gardens are extensive and extremely well kept. A highlight for us was the orchid house with many beautiful blooms. There is plenty of space to get away from others even when it is busy. We had a nice pot of tea exquisitely served in the cafe overlooking the Great Lawn. Most impressive of all were the thousands of bats... More

The botanical garden is very nice, we spent the entire day just wandering around and relaxing on the great lawn. Would give it five points were it not for the entrance fee which is a bit steep for foreigners. The garden is easily accesible by bus from Kandy, stops right outside the entrance.

Instead of an hour we spent more than two, almost three hours in this beautiful garden with really old and huge trees, bamboos, flours and whatever you might like about a botanical garden. And it is great for using a camera with a macro lens for all the blossoms... Don't go there in a rush! As we decided to spend... More

An unforgettable experience for anyone who loves botany! More than 10,000 trees and over 1,000 species create an amazing tapestry of greenery. We used an electric vehicle for a leisurely ride.

This is a must stop for a trip to Kandy or up country, Sri Lanka. It’s only about 20 minutes from Kandy city. However, there is lots to see here. So plan to stay the whole day to just relax and walk around. Large lawns are great for picnics or just family gatherings. The lawns are surrounded with large and... More

This is not only one of the best botanical gardens we have seen but also one of the finest collections that are also well maintained and aesthetically planted and displayed... the tuck shop serves some decent juices too.

Take the time to stroll through this large and beautiful garden in the heart of Kandy. Plan ahead and bring a little lunch to enjoy on one of the large lawns. There are several different varieties of gardens. I personally loved the orchids best! Keep your eyes peeled for a large population of bats high up in the trees.

This is an attraction that should not be missed. Beautiful gardens with many new species of trees and flowers for a European visitor. Allow half a day to enjoy the gardens.
